If you like FPS then you should like Overwatch.

It is hard to explain. I don't fully understand it either.

With the BFs and CODs of the world, I usually get bored with in a week or two.

But Overwatch has me hooked. I have put a ton of hours in to it, and I have days where I am at work watching the clock so I can go home and play some more.

For me it's the perfect game. Come home from work, get a few games in, prepare & eat dinner, and either play some more or do something else.

I was an original FPS fan from the 90s and the beginning of the genre (wolf3D, DOOM, Quake, Duke3D, Quake Team Fortress mod)

When COD took over as the premiere FPS, I played both COD4 and WaW a LOT and really enjoyed it. I also played BF2-3 and bad company, and enjoyed them. I also loved TF2 because I was an original TF player when it was just a quake mod.

Then around BLOPS2 I just got bored with the formula. I stopped playing FPS all together. I played some of the betas and enjoyed them a little but they got old fast.

Overwatch is a lot like Team Fortress to me and I think that's the main appeal to me. The characters are fully realized and awesome, and the gameplay is smooth and soooo much damn FUN. IT breathed life back into the FPS genre for me and I love the damn game. I have a feeling I'll be playing it for a long time like I did TF2. IT's from one of the best devs out there and just exudes fun to me.

I guess it just tapped in to whatever it was in me that liked FPS originally, and I think it's done a good job at hitting those nerves and being original, and at the same time taking pieces of formulas from the best games in the genre.

As a big FPS fan, I feel like I should like this game more. I get bored very easily playing it. I also find e controls to be poor. I don't know. I was so pumped for this one, but I'm not loving it as much as everyone else.

I had to buy a few of the OW Funko Pops and I bought a angsty Reaper t-shirt.

Sans anything Zarya-related I'll pretty much be tempted to buy anything

I am frickED as they start rolling out more merch

Yeah I agree.

Wouldn't consider Overwatch a FPS even though it is in that genre. Also don't see true FPS players enjoying team set based games like Overwatch.

To me it's more for the MOBA/TF2/MMO PvP players. Those players enjoy constructing teams based on set types.

This is one of the dumbest things I have read on here.

It is an FPS but doesn't feel like the classic FPS game from that genre.

That is what I mean and you know it doesnt. Its a turn off for a lot of classic and modern FPS players. Take your dumb statement somewhere else.

Like I said, its very depended on your team make up. Its very much outside of what we are used to in the FPS genre.

Another reason why I said its in that genre. Meaning no shtt its a FPS but it doesn't play like most gamers idea of a FPS.

That's good and all but there's also been hardly any games come out in June.

I find the game extremely enjoyable. Thought it would be another TF2 but found more replay value. It is a game which has gamers divided IMO. Some love the play style and don't try to compare it to modern FPS games but then some just want the modern FPS style.

Released in another month it might have been a little more difficult to reach those numbers. Have to wonder if No Man's Sky would have released, how much of offset would we see?

Edt: Shtt what other AAA / major title was released in June besides maybe some FO4 DLC and Mirror's Edge?
