So telling people it’s good advice really isn’t.
The advice was to do the $35 a month (the credit pull is really nothing) and invest the $500. That was the advice, and it's good advice.

Most people who finance don’t have $500 to invest
The credit pull for some people will effect if they get dropped into a different bracket
Even with good credit there is no need to have your credit pulled unnecessarily, especially to save a few bucks on on game pass.

You have no argument.
You said it was so you could "invest" the $500. If that's the case, why not use your AMEX for the 0% financing then invest the precious $500? It will boost your credit score without Microsoft having to make a hard inquiry.

Wisdom told me to buy a PC years ago. This is my first time owning one during a new console release. I have been missing out on witnessing these threads from the master race clouds.
