Regardless if you will be fine, telling others this is a good idea is bad financial advice

Do you tell people it's good financial advice to have a credit card that gives good points as long as you pay it off every month? Based on your argument, that's "bad financial advice," but I think it's actually good advice.

Assuming one is buying game pass, it's cheaper to finance the xbox than it is to buy it outright and pay for game pass separately.

Yeah it's really hard to see the negative angle here.

Yup. You save about $19 with the Series X plan and about $59 with the Series S plan.

Not sure how you got that from what I said, but I have never been declined for a credit card. Is that something that happens? I always assumed they handed those things out like candy.

You act like MS won’t run a plethora of promotions to get it cheaper

The main glaring downside to the series S is that it only has a 512gb hard drive and the proprietary 1tb expansion card is predicted/leaked to retail for ~$220. Even for the casual gamers, I think 512gb is going to be dangerously close to not being enough storage. So, if you upgrade the storage on the S you spent essentially the same as you would have on the series X, but without the beefier hardware.

I mean, I have two AMEXs. One for work and one for personal use. Not sure what we're talking about here.

ETA: Should I be applying for more of them? Really I have no idea what you're talking about.

It might be a good option for my kids a year or two down the line, but it definitely isn’t in the same class as the other 3 systems.

And yea after a 4TB external you are basically paying the same for a PS5 with way less power.

Yeah that storage space is not going to cut it. I don't even think 1TB on the Series X is going to be enough. I'm hoping I can use an external harddrive through the USB port and just move the games I'm playing currently onto the console directly while playing them and move them back to the external when not playing them.

So you know they have to be paid off in full monthly

For anyone stable enough to have one it makes a ton of sense to use that and get your points.

shite I use my for every day purchases bc there is no interest

Why don't you use your AMEX to finance the Xbox at 0%?

Yeah, both are supposed to support external storage via USB 3.0. You may even be able to play backwards compatible games direct from the external storage, but current gen games will have to be manually move from the external drive to the internal drive to play them.

Because I like the $35 option that includes Game Pass.

Which for you is great

But for most people who finance they cost of potentially another credit pull just to save a few bucks on game pass in the process is definitely not worth it.

So telling people it’s good advice really isn’t.
