so now that i have a ps5 and can go to 4k gaming, im wondering if its time. I currently have a high end panasonic plasma. one of the last of the line.

anyone have experience going from 1080p plasma to 4k oled? From what ive been seeing online from comparisons, not that much of an improvement, but would like any opinions here.

this tv is almost exclusively used for gaming. i dont care about movies or tv on it.

LG 4k OLEDs are amazing. And the PS5 looks really good on them.

There's a nice sale on the LG C1 if you're solely focused on gaming.

But I'd personally go with the A80J and pray for that VRR update. (like me)

recently got an LG 83" C1 OLED and can confirm its freaking spectacular on all content. just a few minor calibrations (just color temp and turning off misc. stuff) and it looks perfect

May want to wait for the Samsung QD OLED's about to drop at CES.

Quantum dot panel over OLED, much better colors and significantly higher brightness than the previous LG's.

I think OLED could finally match the levels of black that a plasma could provide but everything else should be better on the OLED.

OLED has great picture, but make sure you have lights turned off or at least not in its reflection. They reflect light in a severe way, at least mine does. Maybe this has been corrected in the last few years?

Stick with the plasma if you game. Unless you want burn in which wasn't a problem with last gen plasma but it is clearly still an issue with current Gen OLED. Plenty of settings to help mitigate the issue but it still happens.

The fact that you are still using a plasma leads me to believe you don't churn TVs every few years. You will not have an OLED without burn as long as you have been using that plasma.

All of the videos I watched a month ago showed burn-in after 1 year of use. It wasn't bad enough to ruin the picture yet but it was only 1 year into testing in most of the videos I watched.

They certainly look great and have those nice dark blacks just like a plasma but I wasn't ready to test the waters when I was looking a month or two ago. I leave static images up all of the time so I would definitely end up burning it in. Also They are too big. I was looking to a large Ultrawide and 41" is just too big for what I needed.

you are correct, i dont churn tvs often, mostly again, cuz to me plasma has been king of image until questionably now. not once have i seen anyone elses display and said "man that looks better than my plasmas".

but with the ps5 being 4k capable, it could be the first time i see a significant upgrade. worth asking. at some point id like to see a ps5 on an oled to judge myself. hopefully best buy or some other big box store does.

There is no plasma TV that can compare to an LG OLEDs picture right now.

Image retention is way less common than it is being made out to be here. Unless you play one game with a static HUD for a ton of hours everyday, without anything else, it is not likely to happen.

I even play FF14 (mmo) on mine with no fear.

Just bought the 77 inch LG C1 about a month ago and I had a hard time bringing myself to spending that amount of coin on a TV, but once I got it hooked up I was blown away by the picture.

i am eyeing the 55 inch version if i decide to go oled soon. that's perfect size for my room and situation. the lg C series seems to be getting alot of thumbs ups.

No. It really isn't.

He still uses a plasma so his tv is 7+ years old.

Most people have only had OLEDs for a couple of years. Almost EVERY video I watched that had people testing OLEDs for over a year had some burn-in. Still a small sample since I watched about 10 vids but after 1 year there was noticeable burn-in on the burn-in tests. It wasn't noticeable yet while watching tv or gaming. But, that was 1 year. I would wager the cost of an OLED that in 7 years current gen will have noticeable burn-in.

For many folks who churn tvs, it won't be a problem but for folks who keep tvs long term until they die, it probably will be an issue.

Please show me this proof.

Testers can force burn in my sure, by running 10 hours a day test on static screens. Realistically nobody does this.

This is akin to people saying PS5s were breaking at launch. shite happens but it's rare.

The C1 is probably what you want. I have the G1 but the price is not worth it.

I’ve had a B6 oled with heavy use for 5+ years without a hint of burn in
