Ok so what legal issues could come about if they locked the name and height/weight/looks options for real players, but allowed ratings changes for offline play? There aren’t any, which is why it’s stupid to do it.
How should I know? Last I checked, I’m not a part of EA’s legal team.
Your melting over this minor issue is quite the entertainment.

And to answer your question, YouTubers could edit those names and upload gameplay and if they have someone like Arch Manning on their Texas team then there’s a potential for a lawsuit.
That’s the only thing I can think of but even then, you can lock out the bio info without locking out the ability to edit ratings. Madden does it with players every year.
And I would like to point out that this is just a rumor and has been confirmed by no one.

Bordeaux saying he's not sure if you can change equipment for opt ins, but confirming you will not be able to edit their ratings, name, height/weight, etc.
This is one of several that went to EA to play this game and said the same thing. So although EA hasn't directly put out that confirmation it sounds like we won't be able to edit ratings. If you could, I believe EA would have corrected these gamers that they have allowed to come play it and make these statements by now.

Don’t see a thread for Madden so I’ll put this post here..
the first blog came out today for it and they kinda copied multiple features coming for CFB 25 (including Teambuilder)
who’s exactly reskinning who?

That doesn’t answer my question though. I’m asking why ratings can’t be edited, not names. I understand why the names of the “real” players can’t be changed.
They’re apparently going to allow future generic recruits to have names edited, so I’m guessing they have coding that will prevent those names from being changed to Arch Manning, or any other name that opted out. So they obviously have the ability to limit what can and cannot be edited.

Editing attributes for an offline dynasty isn’t really a minor issue and it’s a stupid thing to limit.

. When I sign my 5* 5 7 195 lb white receiver named Demarcus I’d like to be able to adjust things to a more realistic tone

One of my favorite parts of the old ncaa games was how there were always a ton of recruits that basically looked like college-aged Mike Norvell

Editing attributes for an offline dynasty is really a minor issue and it’s a stupid thing to get worked up about and prevent someone from buying a game we haven’t had in 11 years. Melt on bro

Your opinion. I bet there are more people who care about it than people who don’t. I mean, the operation sports rosters were a major thing every year because their base rosters were so inaccurate.
Also, repeatedly using the word “melt” because I’m asking for an explanation is weird.

From my understanding, they were only allowed to play exhibition games and the rosters they used weren’t finalized so why would they be able to edit the rosters at that time?

If the ratings are fair and accurate, it won’t be AS big a deal. If they are all over the place and clearly biased like before, then yeah it will be an issue.

As long as we can edit players equipment i'll be fine

They didn't but a few apparently asked the developers of the game if you could edit ratings.

Why are you asking folks on a message board for an explanation that can only really come from people internal to EA? Folks like myself tried to provide uninformed but reasonable possible explanations and instead of being grateful you continued to be an arse. Weird melty behavior….in my respectful opinion

It’ll be my opinion along with the million or so folks who purchase and have an awesome time playing a game that we have coveted for many years

Will it suck if they don't allow for attribute editing in offline mode(which will be what I primarily play)? Yes
Will it prevent me from buying the game? No
Will EA not releasing the game on PC prevent me from buying the game? Looks possible.

They probably told them they couldn’t edit them there and then and these dinguses thought that meant they couldn’t edit them ever.
