Well it's the time to game handicapping me the most

quote:Almost none. You can't go about this game like a normal rpg. You need to do all of the quests to level up.
Do I get exp from killing creatures
Also, you need to make sure you hit low level quests before you get to far ahead or you won't get any XP for them.
I bitched about this in my earlier post. Since I like to clear out areas, by the time I got to the other main sections of the game, some of the quests were too low level and I got minimal XP for them.

Also I'm a level 5 just did the level 9 secondary mission protecting people while they clear the battlefield 40xp.
Clearing out question marks and the actual story missions give you a ton of XP.

Do the bloody baron and witch quests in velen to get some levels, so that everything there doesn't wreck you.

The contracts are where you get rich and exp. about 200 + each. Clearing out question marks will also get you up there as some of them are settlements overrun by monsters and once you clear them out you get 150 exp I think. I cleared all the question marks and contracts within my level that I could before continuing with the bloody baron quest and by time I got to the ladies in the wood quest I was only getting 10 exp for quests. That told me I need to start advancing the main story
I thought I was leveling slow and really thought I was doing something wrong always being so poor. But after awhile you'll start jumping levels quick for bigger quests and money won't be an issue once you find all these relic swords you can sell for 500$ a pop....I completed a main story quest the other day in novigrad and got 800 exp for it...didn't even have to fight just did a lot of talking to people lol
Also upgrading your axii all the way will help. Anytime you have the option to use it in a dialogue and do it gives you 40 exp. but if it's not upgraded it will be blacked out

I'm going through this now. Would I be better off to continue with the main story and secondary quests that are near my current level and then go back and finish these lower level ones to 100% the game?

Not sure how to best optimize leveling.

I guess they did this to try and stop you from over leveling?
Posted on 5/15/16 at 5:39 pm to Mr Gardoki
It always cracks me up when you're in the middle of a dramatic discussion with an npc and the top dialogue choice is "Let's play Gwent."

Geralt has no fricks to give

Definitely did it to push you to keep doing the story and visiting the other areas. Probably did it to avoid the whole DA:I issue where people just hungout in the hinterlands for 50 hours.

I felt like i was permanently poor until I realized merchants valued my runestones and glyphs way more than I did
Just now cashed in all my orens at novigrad. Bankroll is large

Is it better to sell or break down?
Posted on 5/15/16 at 7:08 pm to Mr Gardoki
Depends if you want to bother with crafting
Even then I usually sell shite
Regular plate armor sells for a frickton. I usually break down stuff for leather and sell everything else.

I usually sold items. The only items I crafted were the gear sets. Once you get high enough you need to seek those sets out. Just like someone said earlier the Feline armor is the tits. Ursine is pretty nice as well.

shite I'm glad you said that I have a lot I can cash in also. Gotta look up where the bank is at
Posted on 5/16/16 at 5:11 am to Mr Gardoki
It's pretty expensive to breakdown. I would only do it if you absolutely need the materials
I also don't think it's worth it to remove glyphs and runestones since you will loot so godamn many of them

I never even tried to play the baron but yeah I believe someone said the card is on his desk or something
The 3 crones quest is what hooked me. Thought they were so creepy. I actually stumbled upon that tree while exploring that side of the map before I ever knew about the crones or bloody baron. Elected to set the spirit free which is good for nan but end ups getting the kids killed.
I don't think you will see the crones again...at least I haven't so far
Idk what to tell ya about the level. I was around level 12 I believe after those quests but like I said I did every contract, question mark, and side quest before continuing with the baron/Keira Metz quests. Examining all the yellow notice boards will open up a lot more ? Marks in the area...I didn't realize that for awhile
