Yeah I think it's off I had 8 days awhile back when I know I didn't play that much.
Oh and since new patch I can't create new saves just overwrite old ones. Same for anyone else?

Yep, you are going to get 5 exp for any quest that you are more than 5 levels above (aka a grey quest). They did some really wacky stuff with the quest line levels too, with the skellige chain bouncing back and forth between green and grey quests for me. Starting part is level 16, then it drops to level 13-14. Pretty lame really.

This play I am doing the lowest level quest I have regardless of main or secondary to max exp. I am sure once I get to Skelli I will have a bunch of grey quest though.

frick the high stakes Gwent game. Everyone I play just has a full deck of spies. I played the dwarf, his first 5 cards were all spies, all 4 points or less. It is impossible to beat.

I didn't accomplish much tonight. Roamed around southwest vellen and spent almost 100% of the time running for my life.
Now that I know you take a XP hit on lower than you quests, i might do a full circuit of vellen picking up all of the quests I can get my hands on.

Have you completed all the POIs in White Orchard? You will get good gear and some levels out of it.

Doesn't help, there is no one way to progress through the map. I did all of White Orchard and ran into many points of interest that kicked my arse in Velen. You just have to leave the ones you can't do till later.

Yeah, I did 100% of White Orchard.
I'm level 7 and I have about 20 quests that are red.
I like that the map isn't linear or scaling. I just hope at some point I feel like a badass and can actually jump into a pack of dogs and kill them.

Yeah, I am doing that as well my next playthrough. It is mainly that no experience bug that didn't get fixed till 1.05 that screwed me, I had to wait until the patch to do Pyres of Novigrad and was level 13 when I started that due to doing all the other side stuff in Velen.

Are you using Quen 90% of the time? Because Quen is your friend most the time.
