yea seeing them pretty much scared me into taking a break and playing some destiny over the weekend
but now I'm back and chipping away at them. pretty fun once I got started and I can pass a few hours exploring them without realizing it.

I/O bottleneck. PS4 still has a hard drive. But even on PC with my SSD, the load times after dying are a little long. The loading bar lasts about 8-10 seconds.

So I got to the Botchling encounter in the family matters (?) quest and moved on to other games because I couldn't figure it out. About to fire up the Witcher again, any tips? If I load a save from right before entering the village, do I encounter a bad result for leaving and coming back? I tried lifting the curse by turning the Botchling into a whatever and that didn't work. Haven't found the beast whatever book to tell me how to deal with it so there's that.
Any tips or info will be much appreciated.

I chose to lift the curse from the botchling without much issue. died once from the wraiths when following the baron up the hill, second time I tried it was easy though. and no you shouldn't see bad results from leaving and coming back.

on a separate note I found maugrim silver sword from just exploring. does 121-149 dmg, has 3 upgrade slots, and only has a lvl 3 requirement

The only sword better than my griffin set was the one the master elf blacksmith I put back in business made me for helping him get his supplies and im lvl 13

The only piece of witcher gear I've been able to upgrade was the chest piece once. not sure if it can be upgraded more or if the witcher swords can be upgraded. the chest piece and the swords are the only original gear he was wearing that are labeled as witcher gear.

You can buy maps to find Witcher gear from random merchants. Once those maps are read, the upgraded gear quests come up on your quest list. You can also come across upgrade diagrams whilst exploring, I believe.

I've sold all my original gear except my swords and chest piece since those were the only thing that were labeled witcher gear. unless I missed a piece that was labeled witcher gear, but I don't think so.

Well, I'm disappointed with myself. One of my saves screwed up and when I went back through, I made a different choice in a conversation than I did before. I should have made the same choices I did before even though I didn't like them as much. Now I am frustrated because I feel like i cheated.

You can return, right? I wasn't sure about that when I was in White Orchard so I did all the side quests and question marks before I left.

As far as upgrading it's more the Witcher school stuff. You can wear all the cat stuff at 13 but then you can upgrade it at least twice.

From what I understand you can always go back places but advancing the main story will cut off certain side quests. Which ones, I don't know.

Witcher School Gear -> Enhanced Witcher School Gear -> Superior Witcher School Gear -> Masterwork Witcher School Gear
I myself just got up to superior with griffin, can finally wear it at level 23.
