What's the scoop here, I'm completely out of the loop since I stopped playing Fortnite when chapter 2 started.
Looks like this is free to play, is it the same as Fortnite where there is a battlepass to purchase? What's the boards opinions on the game?

Yes, it’s the exact same as Fortnite in regards it being free to play. You may need a psn/live subscription though. And yes, there is a battle pass but it’s not needed to play.

I did not like multiplayer on this game but Warzone is pretty fun. Comparable to Blackout which I loved . Up to 13 wins so far

Is Warzone the battle royale mode? So it has a regular multiplayer like the rest of the COD but also has the BR?

It is the battle royals mode.
3 man squads (150 people total)

I noticed today that in Solo when flying a helicopter I can switch seats to fire my RPG. Risky, haven't tried it enough to say it's a successful trick but thought I'd share.

Yes Warzone is the Battle Royale mode and is independant from the Call of Duty Modern Warfare. You can download Warzone separately and it's free.
However, if you have the full game, Warzone just shows up as an extra game type from the main menu.
As for the game, it's great. I made a post on page 89 talking about what I liked about it.
Also, there's a big update today (20 GB for me on PC)
New update includes new game modes in Multiplayer and Warzone.
New weapons to pick up in warzone
New store items including the Talon operator.
New multiplayer map.

Friend just told me it looks like plunder is gone and blood money is in its place. I guess you just get money for kills.

I had a challenge to get 35 kills with an SMG last night so I created a MP5 loadout..........and had a lot of fun with it. I typically don't play with SMG's but that gun seemed to wreck shop last night. Can the pro's tell me if that's considered a noob gun or not so I don't embarrass myself anymore?

I don't usually plays with smgs either, but the AUG with the 5.56 60 round drum claps.
I use overkill to run it with the AX-50 in Warzone.
Then for the late game, I use a loadout drop to call in a class with both ghost & cold blooded then just pick my weapons back up. That way I can have two primaries and stay off UAVs/heartbeat sensors/thermals.

the SMG of choice at the moment is the MP7. the recoil is non-existent.

I kind of like the bizon at the moment. 60 round mag stock so it frees up a slot for another attachment.
