That dog is like one of the 6 voices that isn't duplicated by villagers, and it is extremely annoying.

quote:solid tip. i buy extra lockpicks every chance i get. they always pay for themselves.
Picking lock I have found that the sweet spot tends to be either at 12 o'clock or near one of the brown spots at 10 or 2.

another noob tip: you pick up your first ally in Riverwood. Either Sven or Fraenthal depending on who you betray in their little love triangle. as soon as he joins you, use him as a mule to carry all your looted goods back to sell later. he will use the weapons/armor you give him to carry as needed. very handy.

Pick Fraenthal. Make him your companion -> Pay him for archery training -> Trade equipment and take your moeny back.-> Level up -> Repeat if desired.
Sven is worthless except as dragon bait.

At the very top of the map to. I've put that one off for a while now. Too much other stuff to do.

No. You'll usually find them soon after giving up your search for them.

i gave him a torch, which he actually uses when walking around at night with weapons stowed. it makes him much easier to find but a waypoint on the map would be nice

As long as your ally is alive and set to follow you,
Anytime you zone in somewhere, he should appear behind ya.
Just dont accidently kill them yourself with errant spells/swings... And they usually just appear behind ya when needed

As you progress through the game you will have a ton of follower options so don't worry to much if you lose or get one killed.
I found Lydia after losing her took her to my house in whiterun parted way with her and she said "I will return home" and then turned around walked out the door and out of the city.

There is a sword, in a locked case, in his basement hideout. It's called chillrend, and the paralyze enchantment on the sword works well against him for some reason.
Not sure if any other sword with paralyze would work the same, but it might.

This has always worked for me except when I thought I lost Sven
Turned out I had killed him in a werewolf frenzy. I thought he had run away or something
By the time I realized he was dead I had leveled up several times and no way I was going back to a save.
It did cause me some issues with getting married but I got around it as I posted earlier.
I have had the chick elf from the mage college as a follower for a while and she pretty much rocks
Uses any staff very well and her atronarch casting is top notch

Seems like a lot of people accidentally killed Whiterun citizens as a werewolf. In my current play through I accidentally killed Lydia, Belethor and Adrianne. And I didnt find out until way later in the game. Ill be sure not to get married to anyone in Whiterun as three corpses will likely spawn if I do!
