Well, I'm a mage but I'm leveling up smithing anyway. You can always level up stamina to increase how much you can hold if need be to accommodate the heavier armors.

Agree.

Once again, sorry for all the questions

I have a load of lesser soul gems and petty soul gems. Are they good for anything?

How did no one comment on this? It's much safer than unloading in a few other areas..

When you enchant a weapon, it has a set number of charges. Once it is out, you need to recharge it with filled gems, so yes, even petty and lesser gems are good to refill weapons.

Oh and just like smithing, using lower level gems to enchant gets you the same XP so save your high level souls for later of for when enchanting something you will use, but don't use high level souls just to raise levels.

I at the Companions. They don't like magic casters, but I'm a mage and I'm their leader.

Sooo these lesser soul gems are 'empty', do I need to do anything to them to make them not 'empty'?

I lead the mages guild, dark brotherhood, and thieves guild. I did most of it by wrecking house.

Yes but it is complicated to explain.

There is a spell book called soul trap.

You need to find that book or you need to find a weapon with soul trap on it.

When you use that weapon and kill something it will fill the gems if you have the right size. Best to always just keep gems on you until you have a ton of them.

Keep an eye out to take soul gems from caster heavy dungeons too. Usually lying around on tables, shelves etc. Nice ones too, I found a black soul gem value 750

I guess melee classes have a hard time with frost trolls?

Impact + firebolt/incinerate makes them cake walks.. even on expert.

What I have trouble with now is those mages who will just throw 5 spells at me from a mile away at the same time and I go from full to dead almost instantly..

Nonsense. I have a 2-handed-axe wielding orc and I beat a frost troll into the ground like it was a goat.

I'm a mage... He kept charging me and badly wounding me but the unrelenting force shout helped turn the tides.

I think I just met the req level for stunning destro spells

Ha, for fun I pissed off some giants and Aela (my follower) ran up to engage in hand to hand combat. I got the joy of seeing one square up and drive her like she was the tee shot on a par 5. She was gone to the horizon. About 5 minutes after the end of the fight she came jogging back up to me, happy as ever.
