I tried the original but never got in to it.
Honestly though, I never gave it much of a shot. Is it worth it to go through the first before the second one or should I just move to the second?

First dark souls is a solid game.
I'd play it first. Maybe it'll take you long enough to where you can get a deal on the sequel.

You start off as deprived and have to fight with your fists only at first. Your health bar decreases each time you die (so I've heard). You really think they're actually gonig to make party chat available after making everything more difficult?
Now watch party chat be an option...
I played for 10 minutes this morning. Long enough to make it thru the intro and some of the tutorial. Not enough to get a good feel. Gonna try to hop on tonight and i'll be on a good bit tomorrow after work (2-3 hours)

No crap. I teased myself with about 10 min of gameplay before I had to leave for work. I was like an hour late anyway. Should've just called in
