Does anyone have experience with this version of the Quest? My youngest has it on his Xmas list and has asked about it several times. We have the PSVR already and a few games but currently can only be played safely in our living room. I like the fact that it can be used without a PC but I've read that the battery life is limited to around 2.5 hours while playing.

Battery life does suck, but if you get the deluxe strap you can put a battery on it. The deluxe strap is necessary, the one it comes with is shite. The quest is the future for Oculus in PC games now too with the link cable.

The biggest negative for it is a biggie though. The Quest 2 requires an active Facebook account and if you get banned for any reason like political posts, you lose access to your Quest. If you make a fake account just for the quest and it gets banned, you lose access to your quest. This is happening to a lot of people currently. All oculus vr will have this mandatory in a few years.

Thanks for the heads up on the strap to increase the battery life on the unit. I see that Beat Saber is one of the titles available which is a family favorite. Playing it on the PSVR can be challenging with trying to stay in sight of the camera.

The Facebook account is concerning and hopefully they figure that out soon.

Tracking on the Quest 2 is the same as the Quest and Rift S. It's a decent system, worlds better than PSVR. Quest 2 is also wifi 6, so it should be able to play PC games over that at some point. Which will be great.

Facebook is moving all their VR products to that, the only hope is some kind of jailbreak. It's really a shame, this is a big holdback for the system. I hope they get sued and separate software and hardware locks like Microsoft did with some of their stuff.

I'll have it attached to my Facebook profile, I rarely post with it anyhow.

Do you think there is any way that there is a Black Friday/Cyber Monday bundle with the Quest 2?

No idea, probably depends on their launch sales.

Got mine last week and am floored. My daughter plays it and loves Vacation Simulator, Bogo, Mini golf. I've been playing a lot of thrill of the fight, Superhot and Eleven table tennis and am loving it.

They are making some sort of Office app for it which basically allows you to use your virtual desktop to work in VR, check it out it looks pretty cool.

Myst is also coming out in a month or so.

I've had a Rift S for over a year now and still enjoy the hell out of it.

Some old friends got Quest 2's recently, added me to their group and we hit up Pokerstars VR last night for some private-game Texas Hold'em and Blackjack. Holy shite that was fun! It was even more fun than when we used to do it in person 15 years ago.

They love their Quest 2's but they were definitely playing them with the charging cables plugged in due to the battery life being only 2-2.5 hours.

Right now Oculus still has a lot of focus on the Rift gamewise but I think the Quest line is where they see the true future of the hardware. If I ever feel the need to upgrade my VR, I'll probably go with the Quest.

Don't count on it. Facebook wants full control of your use of your system.

Rift and Rift S is pretty much dead, future for Facebook is Quest.

Facebook has chosen standalone. I much rather Steam VR, Index is still where it is at, Quest is for normies.

I just prefer a platform that isn't tied to social media and can remove access to what you paid for if you say the wrong things on said social media.
