Those of you way ahead of me, I am a Zelda/Link and final fantasy type of gal. Be kind, and understand I am just now getting a Nintendo Switch but played BOTW on WiiU

What RPG games do you suggest? Is the new final fantasy good? And I played the original mario cart, is the newer version as fun?

The new Luigi's Mansion 3 is a must. Very fun and extremely addictive.

Metacritic Reviews

Not sure about any new RPGs though. Here is a list from Nintendo Life listing the best as of Nov 2019. Best RPGs Nov 2019

Xenoblade 2 without a doubt. It's a bit anime, but you should be used to the tropes with FF.

Beat it, then get the Expansion and beat that too. It's a Top 5 experience on the Switch.

Then:
Tales of Vesperia
Ni No Kuni
Dragon Quest XI
Octopath Traveler

And I might try Fire Emblem if I were you.

If you haven't played 8, 9, 10/X2 or 12, I'd get all of those. Well worth it.

If you enjoy Zelda, you might want to check out LoZ: Link's Awakening, which just came out recently. It's a much smaller scale Zelda game compared to Breath of the Wild, but still great.

And I'd also take a look at Dragon Quest XI if you enjoy Final Fantasy. It has a free, lengthy demo on the Nintendo eShop, and a graphical style similar to Breath of the Wild. Also, don't be put off by the fact that it's the 11th entry in the series. You don't need to know anything from previous games to play it. And if you decide to get the full game, it will carry your progress over from the demo.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. There was a RPG game that someone mentioned in another Nintendo Zelda thread. I couldn't find it I was hoping someone would name it here and I would recognize it.

Thanks. Wow I played Secret of Mana (SNES) back when and they have a newer version.

Still looking for the one suggested here. It was a lot like Zelda I think...

Luigi's Mansion 3
Octopath Traveler
Mario vs Rabbids (Tactical strategy)
Link's Awakening

Make sure to grab the Switch Online membership, and take advantage of the NES/SNES virtual console library. It's only $20/yr and likely the best money on the console you'll spend.

Indeed, nothing carries over from one DQ to another, just like FF. They go down in a shared universe from one installment to the next, but that's about it.

I think Octopath is the one I was trying to remember. I will so enjoy the NES/SNES library!

I may be looking at black friday type of deals but the bundle pack of Nintendo switch with a game included are at a fairly decent price.

Just when I settle in on a system (years) it becomes obsolete.

Nah, look at it like stock prices when the market drops - you're just buying shares on sale.

I skipped the whole PS3/XBOX 360 generation. My game backlog is so great I'll never overcome it.

Y's VIII had the potential to be great but you feel a little boxed in after a while. I wish there was a bigger world to explore. I'm probably a solid 15-20 hours in and have no interest in finishing the game.

The game play is fun. But once you figure out the whole game is pretty much confined to one island it loses you IMO
