My 6yr old wants a DS for christmas but when I google I see there's a 3DS,DSi, and a DS. Are these 3 seperate devices and what would be good enough for him?

He plays Wii right now. Mario World and Kart, Wii sports, Cars, etc..

I need a device and games suggestion.

TIA

My boys have the DSi XL. It has an extra large screen compared to the other models. They can access WiFi with them and send each other pictures and stuff.

However, they are two years old now. I would go with a 3DS if I were you. They aren't really making games for the older models anymore, they are all for the 3D system.

As for games, who the hell knows? Let him pick some out. He'll know what he wants.

Hope this helps.

The 3DS is the new handheld console. Been out about a year and a half now. It can play old Nintendo DS games as well. They just came out with the 3DS XL.

Nintendo has a new console called the Wii U coming out in November. It will be something around $300-$350 if I remember correctly. So if your kid is wanting to continue playing games like that when they are released then you probably need to bite the bullet and get a WiiU.

There will be a new Mario game released with the WiiU called "New Super Mario Bros. U" so your son could be talking about that. OR he could be talking about "New Super Mario Bros. 2 3DS" which is for, like the name implies, the Nintendo 3DS.

Don't get a regular Nintendo DS. They don't even make games for them anymore. Get the Nintendo 3DS or 3DSXL.

For games I would get him Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Star Fox,

Hope this helps.
