Trailers are trailers, but it's seeing some of the gameplay that excites me. Some of the changes they've made: being vulnerable to invasions whether you're human or hollow, the covenants are much more viable this time and a phantom only has a limited time in a world, preventing ganking.

So you can be invaded while hollow now? I played almost my entire first playthru as hollow to avoid this. Looks like ill be offline. A lot

There's an IGN article about some of the changes. One of the biggest is that when you turn hollow, every subsequent death will result in points taken off your HP bar. The game will reprimand you for staying hollow, basically. You're also not longer invincible during invincibility frames, I.e., rolling, back stabs.
So much for DS 2 going soft.

If DS2 would have gone soft it would have lost of the hardcore fans of Dark Souls..

Fans were up in arms once over one of the developers saying that some aspects of game would be more accessible. That's what I was alluding to.

Tonight I bought $100 worth of foam padding and starting taping it around everything valuable in my gaming room. I also put in an order for a lanyard that attacked to my xbox controller for those really tough rage quits.

I just now beat the Artorias DLC for the first time, on NG++. I've had quite a few rage quits lately.

I beat Manus by the skin of my teeth. We both had a sliver of health and I was out of Estus - I went for the killing blow and I got him before he got me. I died but still got his soul.
I could never beat Kalameet. I just started a NG, so I figure I'll destroy the bosses in the DLC when I get there.
I tanked his big arse with Artorias' greatshield.

I got the Artorias DLC about a year ago and have yet to play it. I felt so accomplished after actually finishing the game that I just needed to move on to something a little more forgiving for a while. I may crank up the DLC next month to prepare my emotions for what's to come in DS2
