The DLC has some of the coolest characters/bosses and lore bits of the whole game, IMO.

EpicNameBro, the most famous provider of Souls content on YouTube, was selected to help with the official guide for DS2 and he said he liked it more than Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Some take that with a grain of salt since he's being paid to work on the guide, but he doesn't strike me as a guy who would go out of his way to laud the game if he really didn't feel that way.

Comforting news, anyway.
