This thread is to discuss the my player mode of NBA 2K13. List experiences, strategies for making your player better (I.E. what to lvl up first).

I'll start. I created a 7ft 270 lb defensive center to do the dirty work for my team. My vision is a Tyson Chandler / Dwight Howard type of player. I was drafted 8th by the Raptors.

So far I am 8-2 with the Raptors and I play a 6th man role backing up Andrea Bargnani. Every now and then they have us both out there with him as PF.

I have been scoring about 10pts a game with 5-7 REB. 6 min quarters so I'm not exactly getting tons of minutes.

I have poured all my points into defensive reb, def awareness and low post def so far. The results are good but not great. After I earn a few more VC i'll be able to drop more into def awareness and quickness. I am liking the results. I set screens, disrupt opposing player movement and set myself up for boxing out for rebounds. The points come from rolling after picks for easy dunks. Other than that I pass.

Please share your experiences, love this game and especially this mode.

Can we also get a list of players position an console?

I am a 6'3" pg--70ovr. I average about 10 points and 7 assists per game. I still havent gotten into a sixth man position. I haven't played much but the best way to get vc is to actually play play now matches against the computer on 7 min quarters. You get 700-900vc per game. May even be a way to just milk the clock out

I think Chris Smoove on Youtube did a video on how to easily acquire VC points. If I recall, the easiest way was play Blacktop 1 vs. 1 mode and you can easily make three-pointers or something like that, and you get 150 points in like 5 minutes of playing time

I'm an 80 overall scoring PG. I pulled a birdmahn and grabbed 10k VC for like 240MSP. It helped with the signature abilities which are insanely expensive.

97 rated scoring PG. I know what you're thinking. No I didn't buy VC. I just played the shite out of blacktop.

As far as building gaurds, shot medium, shot off dribble, and shoot in traffic should always be your first upgrades. That will give you the ability to score early and often in your career. Mid-range is money in this game and having a good shot off dribble and shoot in traffic will give you more freedom to create your shot with a bit of defense on you. Next is speed, quickness, and on-ball defense. A high on-ball defense rating actually speeds your player up on the defensive side of the ball. You aren't as sluggish reacting to any dribble moves the guy you're guarding does. After that it's pretty much personal preference. If you are playing a true PG, pass would be your next option. If you're playing a slashing PG like I am, you'd pour into ball handling, off-hand dribbling, and layups/dunks.

So I guess the strategy is to play blacktop over and over and then have a badass player during the rookie year. I kind of enjoy building my guy game by game but I wouldn't mind it going a bit faster. I'll have to try this every now and then when I want a boost.

for some reason when I play blacktop it only gives me coins about 1 out of 3 times when played back to back. so now I just play once after every my player game.

I got my def rebounding above 90 last night. Still having trouble getting rebounds. Guards on my own team and opponents coming in and taking them. I box out every time too. Maybe I'm getting too close or something but I am 7 ft with maxed vert and 91 def reb. I should be getting many rebs but I am having a hard time.

Any tips?

I think the sliders in myplayer favor opponent rebounding. Every team I've been on we usually get outrebounded so even if you a rebounding machine the other team will likely steal a few from you.

Yeah that must be it because the opposing team has been getting crazy amounts of OFF REB from me. Makes me look bad as a defensive center with high rebounding.

My Player Blacktop is def the easiest/fastest way to earn VC. Hit me up if anyone wants to get down on 360.

Myplayer with VC is by far the most addictive feature to this years game, just trying to build myplayer up and being about to play online with your creation makes it even better!

I cheesed out and played 1v1 blacktop like a bazillion times, spent it all on my center. My guy is now 80 overall. Scoring about 16 points a game, 7-8 REBs (I got better at positioning)amd a block or 2. I played 4 games and never had less than an A- teammate grade.

Set screens, play good defense, pick and roll all day. My FG% is about 83% for the season. Now I can actually have fun. I shut Bynum down (he scored 4 points) in a game vs the 76ers.

BUMP. Got this Monday. Yesterday was first day to play. For 360.

6'6" SF 215lb Small Forward - GOOSE.

Didn't do anything in the Rookie Showdown. Like 6 points, 2 rebounds.

Got drafted in the late 20's by the Memphis Grizzlies. My only other options were Golden State or the Miami Heat, frick that.

I come off the bench for about 12 minutes a game on 8 minute quarters. Average 7 PPG, 2 APG, and 3 RPG. But for the most part my player is terrible.

Couple of questions:

- How do i call for a pick?
- How do i run a set play?
- What is the function of LT exactly?
- Is shooting kind of like free throws, i should wait at the top of my jumpshot?

I also find Teammate Grade for negative plays extremely frustrating.

come off the bench. lock down Paul Pierce, LBJ, Chandler Parsons, etc. Get rebound. Set screens. Get assists. Score every now and then. All positive plays.

Then on defense i'm banging the boards. Somehow my defensive assignment is changed all the sudden. Boom he hits a wide open 3. wasn't even my man. I lose half a grade.

WTF?!?!?

I also love it when coach decides to swap me out for the Center or Power Forward. Guarding DeMarcus Cousins, Andrew Bynum, David Lee, or Kevin Garnett....that seems fair for my grade to drop everytime they destroy me on the post because my coach is a dumbass.

When I was on the Kings and splitting time on the bench Keith Smart kept trotting me out there at the SF. Watching me try to guard Kevin Love on the post was comical and then he would just straight out-rebound me no matter what I did

I had a 6-7 SF that I was playing with but started to get frustrated with some of the decision I made. So I decided to try the create a legend mode. I started 3 of them with different players to get a fell of what I liked the most.

I brought a second year Maravich to the Hornets and started at PG right away. This is the player I have stuck with. I love running the point with a player that can really dictate the game. I can score when needed or get the ball to Gordon and Davis. I think he started in the low or mid 80s. A very good player I can mold into a Superstar. I only play next key game in this mode.

I also wanted to see what a dominant center was like. So I ran a career with Shaq (94 from the Magic) on the Nets (wanted to see their uniforms). It was fun to dunk on people and dominate the inside. But in the end I was frustrated by the lack of control and depending on the PG to get me the ball. I am tempted to go back to this and put Shaq on the Hornets to team with Davis.

I also put a 99 rated Jordan on the Bobcats and played a few games. Last year this would have been my favorite, but I think I've burned out on Jordan over the past two years. I've played a lot of games with Jordan in 2k11 and 12 so that novelty has worn off.

For me, I like this mode better than the classic My Player. I don't have to worry quite as much about levelling a player up to get minutes. If I had more time to play I would be more patient with a lower rated player. I also like not having to deal with the stupid press conferences...those get real old, real quick.

Hit me up on XBL and I can give you some pointers. I don't have time for all that typing

I think you hit LB
quote:

How do i run a set play?

Press right on the directional pad...it works as the PG, not sure about other positions
quote:

What is the function of LT exactly?

If you pull LT, then RS becomes a shot stick. Many people are used to RS as the shot stick, so this helps. I use the x button for jump shots and LT/RS for dunks/layups/post moves.

Yes

I would recommend playing through the tutorial. It is long but very helpful in getting used to the controls.
