my uncle bought it for playstation and said it wasn't nothing special. he just likes the time period.

with vietnam, everything is iron sights so you might get more used to the game without being at such a big disadvantage (except that a lot of people use snipers because they do have scopes). im not sure if the points for the classes carry over between versions, but i think that it does.
also, the mechanics seem a little smoother in vietnam which i really like but i still mostly play the regular version.

Are you playing 360 or PC, IMO pc is the only way to go on BF3
