well they get new movies, just not in a timely manner
Just wondering if it'd almost be worth it to do the Netflix deal where you can stream movies and cancel like Cinemax (for example).
Is it good HD quality or no?

The ones that are available in HD are pretty good quality, but you won't like it that much unless you watch movies all the time.

Yes, but you will need a router, which you have if you have wireless. If you take the slot from the modem to you PS3, the computer that is hooked up will not have internet. It needs to go from the router to the PS3.
Saint,
I talked to my IT guy at work and he said that i can go from:
Router->Wall->Attic->Wall->PS3 without needing another router or modem. Just hooking up the Cat 5 to another port in the router.
But the problem i see with that is that i'm still relying on the router...and the router is what has given me the DNS error.
does that make sense?

Yes. He is correct in this.

You are getting a DNS error because your PS3 is losing its connection with the router. The interference with the signal is allowing a delay in the signal, which is in turn delaying your Ping (a ping is a packet that is constantly being sent from your PS3 to the PS Network) to the PS Network...thus telling them to disconnect you. If you hardwire your PS3, you will not have this interference, thus no delay.

i think DNS errors are less prevalent in wired connections, but i might be making this up
you could still attempt to change the router settings to disable Upnp

This has nothing to do with his DNS error. This will change his NAT type to Open instead of Strict.

The particular problem he is having, I'm pretty sure has to do with his wireless interference. I had the same issue until I hardwired.

ah i see what you are saying.
the only other thing i'm confused about is this. Last night, the modem for the computer was lit up saying everything was working, i right clicked on the computers in the lower right hand corner and did the repair option...went through normally, but yet our home PC couldn't connect to the internet...that shouldn't be due to the router right?

i think it's already off....my NAT is OPEN
sorry for all the questions....i=/=tech savvy

Every now and again, I have to reboot my router. Sometimes, the PS3 nor the home PC is working. Powering it down and the back up usually fixes it. It doesn't happen often. Usually, if your home PC isn't working, or if you can't get a wireless signal, reboot the router (power off then on)..that will work 90% of the time. If it still doesn't work, make sure all of the lights on your modem are normal.
