It has to do with your internet/network settings on your modem.

This is your problem. I ran my hard line, from Bedroom to Living Room, and have never had an issue again.
How much longer are you gonna be at the in-laws? It may be worth putting the effort. You have no idea how much headache a wireless connection is. If someone uses a cordless phone...runs a hair dryer...the microwave...all will frick your signal.

How far you have to go? You can get a 100ft cat-5 wire pretty cheap these days.

but really never had a problem with it before...
running a hard line will be a problem...with little black running around...not to mention in-laws tripping on it b/c they forgot about it...i'm just gonna have to fix the wireless

I ran mine in the attic and through the walls. Never hurt to have a hard wire line at the house.

I would do it right...through the walls. Its easy (if they let you) and it never hurts to have that there.

i know the main internet jack is in the kitchen/living room.
it's approximately 40' from the PS3. There is already an internet cable in the wall where the jack is correct?
Do i just have to splice that cable and run one to the bedroom?
ETA: does the hard line help with lagging also?

I didn't read this thread and sorry for the hijack, but is everyone in here PS3 MW2'ers? Is there a list with everyone's PS3 user names?
I may be getting a PS3/MW2 for Christmas - how long does it take to learn the controls for PS3? I've only ever played games like this via PC, so I'm assuming it'll take some time to learn with the joysticks and everything.
Tips/suggestions? TIA.

I think you are thinking of the cable connection.
