Alright I just picked this up and am a sucker for medieval games, this seems amazing so far. I haven't gotten too far in but it seems like you are able to forge your own kingdom through a number of different means. Anyone else check playing this?

Get the game of thrones mod. Also they have several mods that really improve gameplay, I just haven't played in a couple years so I can't recommend any.

played it on pc awhile ago and a another play through after a big patch about year ago.

i found it to be very fun sand box make your own kingdom experience. it gets a little tiresome after you own a kingdom and trying to conquer the world, if that your goal.

cant comment on the console versions.

I'm still at the super early stages where I feel like I'm just riding about with a small band of 23 people fighting looters. Is that normal early game or am I doing something wrong?

i mean really it what ever you want it to be. i stayed small time for a long time in my last play through. That's kind of the beauty of the sand box nature of it.

stay small rough band of mercanaries
become a loyal vassal to a king
become the king
become the emperor
if you want to break into bigger battles get yourself into a vassal role under a kingdom. you'll accumulate troops and loot faster.

i liked to pretend my character looked back fondly at the days of not owning several cities and having armies of thousands men. The small skirmishes were more fun in some ways.

Is there any kind of time limit? Does my character age and die? I started off on campaign but am wondering if I should just go Sandbox.

if youre not far into it i would restart in sandbox.

regular campaign wont put a time limit on you but at some point there becomes a time mechanism that make just wanting to do your own thing a real pain in the arse.

in sandbox one of the options you can choose is character aging and death. if you select no you will be immortal. if you select yes you will eventually age out and die and choose a successor from you family line.

Much appreciated for all this. This is one of the first games I've played where the options aren't thoroughly discussed online. What a changeup.
