I dare you to venture out into other forums or gaming sites. TD is by far and away the kindest place (speaking of sites that cover all platforms) I've seen to MS and the Xbone information that has released.
Like I said...

Sorry bro. I don't keep up with all things gaming.
Doesn't seem like a very smart way to run a business.
It's called the razor blade model. Lose money on the razors, and make it back on the blades. I agree though. It's not a very smart business model, but that's why Nintendo swims with money.

I think MS and Sony are just BSing everyone and telling them that. They get the consoles made in sweatshops for like $50 each

Sony was losing ~$220 on every launch PS3 sold whenever it was priced at $600. Sony and MS make a little bit of money on the PS3 and 360 now, but that wasn't the case for years after launch.

I think one side is overreacting and the other is under-reacting. I don't think this is once a day internet check is the end of the world, but I also don't think it is a good precedent to set.

The only time it becomes an issue for me is when there's a storm and my cable it out for 3 days until shitty Comcast gets off their arse to fix it. That's happened zero times in the five years I've been at my house now

I'm out. I don't want to be blamed for derailing this already derailed thread.

I don't like the mentality that if it doesn't affect me, it doesn't matter.
The feature is either good for its consumers or bad.
And like I said, this 24 hours check I don't think is a terrible thing, but in general its not a good thing either.

I agree. I'm just saying that I don't see it being the end of the world b/c how often are people not online anyway? That was my point.
However, my stance is still that I'll wait for the new consoles to release and get reviews from people I know, read stuff online, etc and then make a determination whether to buy one or not. I'm not worried about it much at this point b/c I'm fine with the 360.

Sony fanboys seem to be worried because of the ground Xbox has made up on Sony this gen. Especially in the past 3 years where Xbox has been pretty dominate.
I've seen you post this before and it just isn't true. The PS3 has outsold the 360 worldwide despite a terrible launch that happened a year after the 360s launch.

I agree. It's super prevalent in all defense. It likely won't be too bad for me, but I'm not the normal consumer. It's an anti-consumer move.

The majority of you mofo's are only playing Madden Online, COD or BF Multiplayer, so your console is going to be online all the time anyway.
