it's no longer being developed by Canuck Play, that developer up in Canada. Doug Flutie sold the rights or something and this new developer took it over and completely overhauled it.

it'll have fake college and pro teams/rules. i expect the modding community to take it over if the gameplay is worth a damn.

small gameplay is shown at the 1:28 mark

cinematics look to be on par with CFB/Madden.

lol the visuals and cinematics actually look really damned good. If they could have gotten a finished product out a year or 2 before NCAA finally returned then maybe they'd have been on to something, but now it's probably too late for them to make a dent into the market.

I'd need to be able to see what the offensive playbooks look like, as that is probably the biggest factor for me alongside the collegiate uniforms, stadiums, mascots, traditions, fight songs, etc.

i just played about a qtr and half. i still feel like it's lacking.

the ball floats in the carriers hands
receivers hands are like magnets
kicking animation seems like the kicker is stiff
all animations seem to have a split second delay between action and reaction

it's definitely better than the previous iterations. visually, it's on par with Madden.

Not gonna lie, I love the Space Coast Orbiters name lol.

And this looks x100 times better than the Flutie stuff. It's a shame they're a couple years too late.

I did on pc, was not impressed with the game. Still in beta but its just not the EA killer people hoped itll be. Gameplay feel jittery. All tackles are shoulder tackles, so attempting to dive to get the feet of the runner doesnt work. Visuals are great. Passing is god awful. The camera alone i didnt even know where the ball was. Defense is bad, dbs watch the ball float over there heads with no attempt to swat it. I played the first half and quit. I was looking forward to the game, but not anymore. From my experience

I just don't see any indy developers creating anything remotely resembling an "EA killer." What they can do is get the gameplay tightened up to where it's in a good enough state to at least be passable and then focus on making the menu-based gamplay options such as Dynasty or Franchise deeper than Madden/CFB.

Even if the gameplay was exactly the same as NFL Gameday 2004 (PS2), it would be good enough, but we're not even there yet with any of these indy football games

I like this more than Axis football. Just get the commentators from that game to do commentary in this one.

They should just open it up to modders and let that community take over the game. Then it will be fun and up to snuff. They've been working on this for years and this is the best they have come up with. The gameplay is essential. The rest is just window dressing.

I'm older, in my 50's. I used to play the shite out of football games, back from the old stuff like Atari 2600 and computer sims, up through the PS3/360 games. I got away from gaming about then, just getting back into it now. Got a refurbished Steam Deck and put a 2TB drive in it.

I just downloaded this and tried it out on the deck, it's in need of fine tuning but it's playable. I watched this review

and they're right. You don't get away from tackles etc. When the defender homes in on you, you're going down. Runs were a bit iffy because of that, you need good blocking or a hole, because it's entirely up to having room to run. Got a nice FB dive offtackle to the left for 4 yds, tried a toss sweep and lost 2 yds. Runs basically look like rugby scrums, no moves or jukes.

Passing was ok. Threw a bullet on a slant for 8-10 yds, a deep ball up the left sideline for a big gain, incompletion on a crossing route (looked like a disaster and should have been picked), and a nice fade route for a TD. In a better sim, the deep ball should be a TD, because the safety ran him down pretty quick on what appeared to be 3 yds past the defense.

Understanding that I played Madden all the way back to the original (which was sideline view with Red vs Blue teams, but still 11 on 11 with actual playbook), and I've have taken even that:
this is very playable. You get the basics, with decent graphics. As I understand it will remain free once released; if that's so and it allows you to change color schemes and names, it will be plenty enough for me. I don't need to play multiple season mode, I just want functional pickup games. For that, it's great.
