The shooting reportedly happened at a Madden NFL video game tournament. The tournament is being held at the Jacksonville Landing, a marketplace in the downtown section of Florida’s most populated city.

"Mass shooting at the Jacksonville Landing. Stay far away from the area. The area is not safe at this time. STAY AWAY," the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said on Twitter.

Seeing 4 dead, including suspect. Still not sure if there was another shooter involved.

There was a huge argument captured on stream there yesterday, very heated. And you apparently need access to the tournament to get in, so pissed off guy from yesterday likely came back and shot it up.

New: The Jacksonville gunman was a gamer in the Madden tournament who lost, and he killed himself after opening fire, another competitor tells me.

Crazy. How do you get that mad over a video game?

Follow up question: Why weren't they checking people at the door?

Did they have any security whatsoever?

Not sure. Is there usually any security at these things? I've never been.

Apparently this tournament was at a mall with less than 100 people

Dreamhack hosted this tournament and has notoriously bad security. Hi-Rez Studios had previously hosted it and they typically have a much stronger security presence.

Dreamhack is about to get a hella big lawsuit.

NSFW video/audio when shooting starts (only audio when it happens)

Listening to that is terrible.

according to a LA Times reporter...the shooter was a player and lost a match yesterday. Came in and shot those two gamers in the video and eventually turned the gun on himself.

Yeah, those are kids in the video. Sad.

I have been in small bars where shots broke out. One time I thought some chick was tapping on the glass until people started running for safety. Around the same time I got a gun pulled on me at a gas station for no reason.

IDK if guns are a bigger problem today but I know they get more exposure from events receiving more exposure. Suck none the less.

Ridiculous. Who skimps on security?

It is more sad we need security at a gaming event.

If you're going to make it a "gun free zone," you better have the security to make that true. Simply putting up signs or stating policy is useless.

The black guy survived. The white guy had just had a baby with his wife and is now dead.
