Anyone getting this game fore the switch? I pre-ordered mine, I'm a sucker for any mario game...add golf and I'm in. Concept looks cool.

Pre-Ordered as well, I just want a proper sequel to Mario Golf 64.
That was one of those pure crack games.

Have it locked in on GameFly, but I'll probably keep it.

Toadstool Tour on the GC was pretty solid.

I thought there was something off about that one, but could never pinpoint it. Could have been nostalgia, but it felt lighter in skill requirements than 64.
I don't have high hopes for this given Aces, since that was fairly mediocre.

Agreed. I have been playing this on my N64 to prep. I have been waiting for this to come out on the switch forever now. Looks like the game play will be interesting. I never played anything after 64, so I don't know if this is new stuff..

Yep, sort of how they dumb downed Mario Parties post 64 and GC.

Preordered immediately when it became available. Cannot wait for this to drop, especially considering they brought back the RPG mechanics from World Tour and the handheld games.

I preordered it. I've had PGA 2K21 since it came out, but now I only play it during major weeks to get a feel for the course that the tournament is at. I am excited for another Mario and another golf game in one. I hope I like it enough that I don't feel the need to order the Zelda coming out soon right away.

While I do like that they don't pump them out yearly I'll never understand why Nintendo has become somewhat lazy and moderately stingy with their sports games.
Mario Golf, Tennis, Soccer, and Baseball should all be getting the same care and attention from Nintendo as Mario Kart.
It's also really strange to me that they never used Wii Bowling as the basis for a Mario Bowling game with online leagues. A Mario Basketball that is essentially a clone of NBA Jam would also probably do really well.

Let's not pretend Nintendo aren't the weirdest cats in the gaming biz. If it makes sense, there's a good chance that Big N is going to ignore it, but then they're going to come up with their own "solution" that's 180nfrom conventional wisdom.
Much to the chagrin of western gamers, no less.

And then most of the time Nintendo knocks it out of the park. That's why we have Mario Golf in the first place (via Camelot, but Nintendo's inspiration was there).
See Splatoon and Arms for recent examples.
I do think the weirdness and unconventional approach, and the pure insanity of wanting to do something unique even though they sit on multiple cash cows, is precisely WHY Nintendo is unique and does make some really impressive stuff from those ideas. Even though sometimes it takes a few iterations.

I saw it at E3 and it’s definitely on my list of games for when I get the switch. Looks like a ton of fun.

Weird that there’s no real reviews this close to release. Will definitely pick it up Friday either way
