In the next couple of months I am looking to buy a PS3 to upgrade from my ps2, b/c I need a Blue Ray player also so it should be a win win situation.

Alright so what kind should I get, I hear some of you guys talking about a 40 GB and a 80 GB.

Whats the best? Whats the worst? What should I get to fit me best?..

Thanks people!

It depends on what you're looking for. If you wanna be able to play PS2 games, get the 80GB. If not, the 40GB is good quality too. Both come Blu-Ray ready.

But if you can bear the wait of another month, and maybe a chance for the release date to be pushed back, then I'd say wat for the new (and improved) slim model...I've heard good things about the product.

There's rumors of a 250gb PS3 slim too coming out around Christmas, but nothing on that has been confirmed.

well I am aiming at buying it around christmas, but I am waiting to see what my options are. I also don't know much about the PS3's b/c i've been still playing with my ps2, so thats why i'm trying to get the word on it.

So if I get the 120 GB i won't be able to play ps2 games on it?

Usually for a longhorn fan I would tell you that they have free ones at the bottom of your nearest cliff. But I'll be nice today and just tell u don't. It's not worth it, only use mine for blu rays.

Cause you are not arguing. You are making a statement and thinking you are right, Which as usual you aren't.

I agree with most of the people on here. You might be the worst poster, and you are a tad bit

Correct. Sony no longer makes a PS3 with backwards compatibility. You'll have to find one on ebay or something from awhile back if you want that feature

Look for old 60 gig model or 80 gig model with 4 usb ports (MGS4 edition) if you want to play your ps2 games. I'd look for the 80 gig eventhough its only software emulation unlike the 60 gig's hardware (has ps2 chip in it) if I were you. the 60 gig seems to be the culprit for most of the ylod issues on PS3s (internet board speculation is that too may processors and chips causing it and 20 gig models to overheat and break down).

Avoid the old 20 gig even though it can play ps2. It has no wifi built in.

Going with tiger golfer on this one, PS3 > 360.

Regarding new 'slim' $299 PS3, things to be aware of when deciding which unit to purchase:

- won't stand vertically without spending another $25 for a stand
- won't play PS2 games
- 2 usb ports instead of 4
- no more 'linux backdoor' (geek feature)
