Slightly more detail... it was an old superhero MMO that offered a ton of character customization (a lot of it cosmetic). It also had some really unique movement options that were ahead of its time. The game had some flaws, but it was a really unique MMO in an otherwise samey genre.

I hear rift is pretty damn good, thinking about giving it a go.

I played Rift from 2011 to 2013 pretty much every day. Trion is the worst, most unethical company out there. AVOID Trion games.

Right now I have Archeage installed (a Korean MMO than Trino publishes in the US). They have been DDoS'ed for the past month and have done NOTHING to mitigate it. (The Russians are DDoSing them -- it's a long and hilarious story as to why). Tons of people are quitting AA in droves over this recent DDoSing and Trino couldn't give a flying frick. Every day they say "we're working on it" and nothing ever changes. It's a fricking joke.

So, no Rift is not a good game. It wasn't good when I played it and it's even worse now because Trino has implemented the RNG/Gambling/P2W bullshite that they do on Archeage. I only played it so long because I made friends there and enjoyed fricking with the players I hated. One fun thing about Rift, though, is if you're good a 5 man group can take out a 20 man raid pretty easily. It was always fun fighting while being outnumbered and winning.

If you want an MMO, I hear ESO got its shite together and is a good game now. Guild Wars 2 and Aion are both still going. Or if you want to wait until 2018 then there is a decent slate of MMO's due to come out. I personally want to try Ashes of Creation, but there's 3 or 4 others coming out that look strong too. (Dark Age of Camelot is having a sequel made by the original team as well).

And, of course, there's WoW, the first and hardest MMO.

I just remembered I bought the legend xpac but never even played it.

So I have one of those things that will give you a max level character. Which one should I choose?

Pretty sure I just heard EA's CEO say "hold my beer".

It depends on what you're looking for.

If you like more single-player content with options for PVP, Star Wars: The Old Republic (which also focuses more on story)

For solid gameplay, Elder Scrolls Online

For population, World of Warcraft

Do you have a preferred genre? Most of the time, you're going to find fantasy being the prevailing one. Lord of the Rings Online, Everquest 2, WoW, FF XIV.

Guild Wars 2 is pretty solid. Has an initial price, but no subscription fees.

Prefer top-down third person view? Try Albion Online.

Willing to wait? In 2018, Bless Online will be out that includes 100v100 realm battles as well as PVP, etc.

Want space exploration, or just love being an absolute douchebag? Try Eve!

Want some thing more pervy? Try Scarlet Blade.

I can confirm this.

I finally got tired of DCUO's pittance of content releases and checked out ESO. There's a metric crapton to do there and lots of character progression avenues (Skyshards, tradeskilles, CP, etc) as well as content. One of the big positives in its setup is that content scales so that people can play together despite having wildly varying levels.

The answer is Eve Online.

Im sure everyone in here has heard of it because its been around just solidly serving its small but dedicated community.

One Server for the entire world (except china)
Just released another new free expansion.
Just increased the amount of ships that their free Alpha Clone pilots can fly (now fly all the way up to battleships, the core fleet ship in the game)

Def worth looking in to if you are remotely curious about space/sci-fi hardcore mmorpgs

my advice to anyone with enough balls and patience to try it, is to quickly join an in game guild called Brave newbies or the in game reddit guild (Corporations are guilds in eve, and most have multi corps merged to form alliances) The reddit Alliance is called "Test Alliance Please Ignore" Check our their subreddit as well.

Yes, the tradeskill bag by itself is worth the fee.
