$800 for the Series X?

What happened to $500 for a console?

Not like this is a new release.

You think that's bad LINK

GameStop and third-party resellers have raised the price of used PS5 Pro consoles to as much as $1,400 — a $500 markup on Sony's suggested retail price.

Will never be those prices again most likely in the age of AI data centers. The new Xbox and PS6 will likely be comfortably over $1,000

Why is a PS5 re-tread console going for so much?

I’m not a PS guy, but that seems ridiculous.

Is it even worth getting the Xbox if there’s just going to be another one in a year?

It has more ram and more ssd, so Sony essentially can't fill the orders, so getting a new one is impossible.

As a result, they are marking the frick up the used ones for GTA6.

Do you like to have physical copies of your games? If so, there's no guarantee there will be physical games on next gen. PS already said they won't have a disc drive on the next console. XBOX and Nintendo have so far not said they will follow suit, but they could.

If having physical games is something you don't care about, I'd argue that waiting for next gen is smarter at this point, but it looks like the next consoles will be coming in somewhwere around $1000-$1500.

RAM should start coming back down in about two years, but the gaming public will be used to paying inflated prices, so they'll continue to charge them.

ETA: just buy a used Series S. No moving parts but a fan. $389.
