It's fun. The song selection blows. Makes some of the tiers difficult to get through. I've played guitar for years so my review of the game isn't from a beginners perspective.
Overall, great concept. I hope they release more songs though.

How do you plug in your guitar to the xbox? I think it would be great to be able to use your own (which I think you can right?)

There is a chord that plugs into your guitar and then that plugs in to your Xbox via USB. Yes, you can use the game as an amp, pre amp, and pedal/effects set up and play whatever you want. As you play through the career mode, you unlock new amps, guitars, effects pedals, etc.

Damn. That sounds pretty cool. I assume you can use acoustic or electric guitar? I might see if my twin brother will let me use his and try that game out. Rent if for a few days to see if I might be interested in buying

If you have an acoustic that can be plugged in to an amp, you can use it.
