I also want to point out that I beat both of them while not being embered. At a certain point I decided not to waste all I had.

If you equip the gold serpent ring and anything else that increases item drop or luck (rusted coins help too), at the dancer bonfire go outside where the knights are, kill all the knights. Go back to bonfire, kill them again. Do this over and over. They drop embers. I stocked up on lots of embers that way.

So I've basically taken the Knight starter weapon, the long sword, and have been upgrading it as I go (+7 now I believe). I keep wondering if I should have gone with something different and not stuck with the beginner sword. It's worked fine for me, but can you guys suggest another straight sword just so I can try something new?

I have 3 of those tongues and I keep toying with the idea of redoing my stats to try another play style, but probably can wait on that for another play through.

Most difficult for me. Just odd timings and minimal tells. Had to summon...

i see this a lot, and now that I think about it, I probably spent more time on her than any boss since O&S. I wish From games did the same thing as Nioh where you could view individual enemy models and see how many times you've killed/died.

O&S would probably be #1 on time spent for me and a lot of others given it's most people's first game in the series and they still have no clue how to level, how to roll, what weapon scaling is, etc. Just clueless on everything

Friede would probably be #2 overall and hardest overall bc she gives Souls vets so much trouble. That third phase is just ridiculously hard.

ive never beaten Friede solo. at the end of the day, i just dont have the time/patience to put in the work. i can spend about 2 days stuck on something before i either summon past or just give up.

I still havent beaten Orphan of Kos or Ishin, prob never will.

You can definitely beat em solo. Orphan takes an hour or 2 of practice and Isshin will just click for you eventually. All about figuring out that spear phase

Lothric Knight Sword is the best. Fast, low stamina consumption, good range (longer than longsword), good scaling, good moveset. Can go Refined (if 40/40 str/dex) or Sharp (S-scaling for dex at +10) infusions and just lay waste to mfs. It's the best PVP weapon as well. Only guys with elite parrying abilities can stop it.

Dark Sword is also really good. More range and damage than LKS, but the moveset isn't as good. Go Refined infusion here

The long sword is a solid weapon. It works for any build. Other weapons I'd try is claymore, hollowslayer greatsword, lothric knight sword. Also, I've always liked the dark sword.

See your last statement. If it's worked, and you like the moveset, you can finish the game with it. I love ultra greatswords. I tried a few and went with the Astora. Its moveset is perfect for my playstyle. It's all about finding a weapon and moveset you enjoy. Quality builds give the most weapon flexibility due to scaling from both strength and dexterity.

this, i maxed longsword in every Souls game to start and never had issues, they're the perfect balanced weapon for you to get your bearings. always room to experiment with other stuff later on

I can post later.

I had been spreading it out on just vigor, vitality, endurance, and strength. Lately I've been sticking it all in endurance and vitality. I equip a shield but lately I've not used it as much, relying more on rolling and dodging. I used the shield as a crutch for most of the game, but I feel more confident in my ability to dodge most attacks now.

I'm thinking a dual wield blade character might be more in my wheelhouse, but for a newbie, understanding how the stats work is a chore.

i was getting very close with Orphan before i signed off. I never got very good at Sekiro, Isshin was giving me all kinds of problems.

with both of them tho, i just couldnt wait to finish the stories and then do a deep dive into the lore videos. thats like half of what I love most about the games, and i just couldnt wait any longer, so i went ahead and spoiled the endings, and never had the drive to finish the fights.

Been watching speedrunner Distortion2 on twitch do ds3 with "Ascended mod" and on 'hell' mode which makes things absurdly tough.

you can just run ascended tho without hell difficulty for a new challenge tho
