Haven't you gotten the DS1 plat?
Mhm. Gotten plat for every Souls game

For the all rare weapons trophy, is it worth getting those to +10 before starting NG+? For example, I'll have to get Smough's Hammer in NG+, should I go ahead and get a hammer to +10, along with the weapons/shields for Quelaag, Sif, Gwendolyn, etc.?

Yes, I remember farming all the materials I needed and upgraded all the base weapons in advance. I had a list on a legal pad so I knew which base weapon would be allocated for each boss weapon. Just made it easier on my end

One of the more visually absurd things I've done in a game.
Sadness ahead, therefore, time for tears

Did you grind souls in the Royal Forest before fighting Sif?
No. Should I have?

I just started a NG to go for the Platinum on DS1, and Blighttown wasn't that bad at all.
Keep in mind I'm OCD as hell when it comes to being a completionist. Getting knocked off the platforms and the lack of room to move just finally pissed me off.
Ya, I could have blown through it pretty quick to just hit what was necessary, but I am just incapable of doing that.

I took them out, and was then shocked to find out they respawn.
ETA Might want to go spend those souls.

Yeah. I did. Farming souls here and the grand archives is pretty easy thankfully.
Most I've lost this run through was around 48k somewhere in the grand archives before I killed the crystal sage.

Not necessarily. As soon as you go through the gate you have to open with the Crest of Artorias, there are 5 enemies nearby in the woods. You can make them jump off the cliff, which gets you 7,000 souls per trip. Then, you go up the steps to the nearby bonfire and repeat.

Was watching the cowboy playthrough and his advice was hauling arse and talking to the cat for the covenant.
But your way sounds fun.

before they patched those guys, I ABUSED them for souls. I'd run, corral them all, and then stand beneath those stairs. they'd march off one by one and bump, into my shield, giving them the little umph to fall

So has anyone defeated the 3 rolling cats just before the grey wolf WITHOUT using the tree line glitch?

playing through Bloodborne and DS3 again. I've platinumed them all over the years, and I've now played every game in the series in a 365-day stretch. I'm far enough into these last 2 replays to make my final ranking
DS1 & Bloodborne
Demons
DS3
DS2
(I left Sekiro out because it's just too different from the rest).
DS1 and BB are tops for similar reasons. They both represent the pinnacle of Fromsoft game design, weaving incredible world and level design with palpable atmospheres, deep lore, and tight mechanics. Slight edge to DS1 for world design, slight edge to BB for atmosphere. And how cool are BB's weapons? All of them are so fun. I wish more games used the BB/Ninja Gaiden philosophy regarding weapons. Instead of giving us 100 weapons to choose from with overlapping movesets and similar stats, give us a dozen unique weapons with highly refined movesets and attributes. I really don't think I can pick one over the other since they're both so magical. I can see why Miyazaki picked Bloodborne as his favorite though, it's probably the strongest overall package. Brilliant evolution of the souls formula, perfect length, no bad areas, unique and uncommon setting/lore, and amazing mechanics. The only thing I wish was better was the chalice dungeon system, but Miyazaki himself said that they just ran out of time and couldnt flesh it out or refine as much as they wanted.
Demons has so many areas that, despite lacking the cohesion or interconnectivity of the above games, are outstanding on their own. It probably has the weakest boss catalog overall, but it still hits the mark on almost all fronts, especially in atmosphere. The remake is going to be stellar.
While DS3 is the tightest and most mechanically sound game in the series, it just has too many dull areas and bosses, which is why I'm knocking it down. Everything from Road of Sacrifice up to Irithyll is trash, Smouldering Lake and Demons Ruins are megatrash. Wyvern, Yhorm, and Wolnir, while cool design-wise, are just dull gimmick fights. Crystal Sage and Deacons just straight up suck. I used to have DS3 above Demons but this latest playthrough is making me see the cracks. Too much reliance on fanservice as well. Still, it has some of the best bosses and areas in the series. Irithyll and the Lothric areas are fantastic.
DS2 is 100% the worst game of the series. The Fromsoft B team gave it their best shot, but Its troubled development is readily apparent early on. It's a visual mess (they had to change the lighting at the last minute, which is why the visuals are so muddy and ugly), the mechanics are slow and unresponsive, encounters are cheap and uncreative, i-frames are tied to a stat (just lol), most bosses can be beat by hugging them and circling to the right, and the world design is a mess (they clearly had a bunch of areas designed and just threw them all together in the end). As far as positives, it has the best PVP, the most build variety, and the game is pretty generous with the routes you take after you clear the first couple areas. Also, the Old Iron King DLC gives us 2 of the best bosses in the series (Fume Knight and Alonne)
