Just finished Red Dead 2, some questions **SPOILERS**

Really liked it despite it's pain in the butt control scheme (got used to it instead of actually liking it). I think I started and stopped it at least 4 times before pushing through and really getting into the meat of the story. But there's a lot I don't remember from that first part in the snow until the first settlement outside of Valentine.
Questions:
1. How many of you played the epilogue? My main beef with the end when Arthur died was it went right into the first post chapter with Marston. I'm kind of ready for a break from it, but I was really annoyed I didn't get the chance to kill Micah, and after reading up on the epilogue............I'm not a little more interested. I hear it's slow and not as engaging as the main story so I'm hesitant to dig back in to 2 more chapters.
2. Wasn't it really obvious all along that Micah was the one that sold the gang out? The story indicates it didn't happen until they get back from Guarma, but he was the one that set up the parley with Dutch and Colm that got Arthur captured, and he was the one you met up with in Rhodes where Sean gets his head blown off. From what I've read online, it seemed like it was surprise when it was revealed that Micah was the rat but I thought it was pretty clear.
3. How in the hell did I end up with over $96K? I honestly couldn't remember some of the early heists and events and when I started going to shops and purchasing supplies and whatnot, I realized I would never spend all of that money so I pretty much bought everything. Fun as that is, I figured in a game like this money would be more of a factor than it was.
4. There were a lot of great parts of this game, but that hot air balloon flight and shootout was cool as shite. What was your favorite?
5. I never played the first Red Dead, but I know Dutch is in it. I was curious if there was anything revealed in the first game that ruined anything for this prequel for those that played both?

You need to do another walk through.

The epilogue is much longer than you would expect. It's really the only time you actually spend in a real western setting though. The first red dead felt way more like a western game to me because of the setting alone.
There are no real spoilers for the first in second. The first game you basically were just given names and told John had a history with them. If you play 2 first, youd have an understanding of what that history actually was.

Epilogue is as long as you want it to be. Free play never ends.
If you liked the game I recommend looking up points of interest and going and checking them out. There are a lot of cool things you can stumble upon well off the beaten path.
I played well over 150 hours and loved every second. I explored almost all of the map and crafted everything. One of my favorite games of all time.

This is probably my favorite still/scene from any game

That scene is insane. Great end to that chapter.

The game peaked right there. I was kinda let down that nothing topped it afterwards

The end of the game is pretty cool. I liked it.
Kind of but thats why they threw in Molly's admission that she turned on the gang to piss Dutch off.
I loved being north of cumberland forest. It was so beautiful. The devs did an amazing job with the scenery.
All you learn is that Dutch and Marston had a falling out. You kinda learn that Dutch is full of it.
The only thing in this game that really bugged me was Jack being obviously voice by a woman. They didn't even try to make him sound like a kid. It was terrible.
Arthur Morgan is one of my favorite VG characters.

1. It is slow but you will get what you are looking for.
2. I thought it was obvious
3. Yeah I ended up with a lot of money. It’s definitely a flaw in the design of the game.
4. The horse ride when the D’Angelo song plays after Guarma
5. In the first game, Marston is hired by the feds (the younger agent with the Mustache) to kill Bill, Javier, and Dutch. Dutch is a real bad guy in that one. So the fact that he was bad is spoiled.

With regard to number 2, wasn’t it revealed that Micah didn’t start working with the Pinkertons until after Guam? He was a rat, but wasn’t a rat for the entire story.
Speaking of Guam, what a piece of shite story chapter that was. God damn that was out of place and boring.
And Jesus Rockstar needs to update their shooting mechanics. Probably the least interesting 3rd person shooting mechanics I’ve ever played.

Right, but to me he was sketchy all game considering the examples I gave in the OP and I read up on Blackwater last night. The Pinkertons came down hard and fast on that one like they were tipped off and Micah was the one that talked Dutch into doing it while Arthur and Hosea were away.

They need to fix gameplay in general. That was in that expose on video game crunch that came out after RDR2 was released. There were a lot of people at the studio who were begging them to update dated mechanics and the Housers would never allow it.

I actually forgot about that part of the game until now. That was so out of place and I didn't give two shits about it.
I liked some of the subtle differences in the epilogue playing as Marston. His drawing is shite compared to Arthur and I remember trying to swim somewhere only to find out ol' boy never learned how to swim

The final mission of the Epilogue makes it all worth it.

Youre not wrong about Micah being the obvious rat the whole time but the Pinkerton guy says they picked him up after Guarma so thats that. I think if he was the rat all along the Pinkerton wouldnt have had any reason to hold that info back.
If they ever make another RDR it needs to be set in the golden days of the gang and end on the Blackwater job.
The epilogue is essential to set up the origin story for Marston and it really made me like him more. Its better if you played the first(ehh2nd) RDR tho.

The more I thought about it, Micah was reckless enough to be an easy mark. They said they shook down the one lady but she would never talk. Micah was a different story. Plus I played the beginning a little again last night and I forgot that Micah and Arthur pretty much hated each other from the start.

As funny as it would be that they keep going backwards, seeing how Dutch, Arthur, and Hosea ended up together would be a story I'd like to see.

Agreed. A young Arthur being influenced and learning to be a man from his mentors and growing up alongside Marston. The 1st RDR showed "the end" and RD2 showed the decisions that ended up destroying the gang, but getting to see them grow up, thriving, and then ultimately allowing Micah in would be fantastic storytelling. all backwards, like you pointed out.
As a bonus they could clear up who Jack Marstons real father is. Ive gone down that rabbit hole a little and they constantly reference Abigail being a whore in both games. Lots of speculation Javier is Jacks dad.

Blasting that guy at the top of the stairs inside the house and sending him propelling through the window.
