I've been a huge fan of this series going back to Civilization II. Tried Civ VI when it first came out, but it seemed like it was at least two major expansion packs away from being a complete Civ game.

Probably until Skyrim, I logged more hours in that game than any other.

I never really "loved" Civ III - IV had so many expansions it was hard to settle in. I really liked V, but have not played VI yet. It might be they never top Civ II.

100% serious.

I still play V. Still haven't been able to get into VI.

Totally agree. The advisor panels were brilliant. I'd love to see them put them back in the game.

I still play V. It's pretty close to perfect IMO.

I want to give VI a shot, eventually, because I really like that they finally implemented multi-tile cities into the game.

But there were a lot of other changes that I wasn't crazy about. At least as far as the base game goes.

6 is fine but 5 is better. I just play more 6 these days because it's more novel to me still

The real pro move is to play the two best ones in the series, 2 and 4

I read an article somewhere that said it took Civ VI over two years to finally overtake Civ V in terms of consistent concurrent playerbase on Steam. That's insane, even for DLC-heavy games.

Haven't seen a playerbase this split since the time people wouldn't quit playing Total War: Rome in favor of the newer releases.

Yeah. VI has improved but there's something about V that just reels you in.

I was still playing a modded version of Medieval: Total War 15 years or more after it's initial release. Would probably still be playing it if I had it on this computer.

Rome - Total Realism was my jam. I eventually grew to like Rome II, but it was a tough journey.
