Curious if anyone can offer comparisons between iRacing and something like Dirt Rally or F1on PS4? F1 has been growing on me, and I have a full ts300/pedals/shifter/cockpit setup. I like the convenience of a dedicated console for racing, but sense the Upgraded experience connected to a PC with an i9/2080super might be worth the hassle.

I have only played the NASCAR heat game on my PS4 and never played online with it so I can’t really give much of a comparison. If you enjoy racing against other people and want to get as close to a real simulation I would think Iracing would be the best choice. Iracing offers many different types of racing from dirt to Indy car, Nascar heck just about any kind of racing and cars you can think of.
With Iracing you do have more cost, you have a monthly membership fee (@13.00) but they have specials all the time. Another cost is you will end up having to purchase some of the tracks and cars that you may want to run. (11.00-14.00) Then to top it off you need a computer system to run the simulator, they do have a download that will test your current system and it will let you know if you can run with what you have or need to upgrade. You also need a decent internet connection but that’s with any online gaming.
I guess the biggest question is how serious are you to racing? With the added expense of Iracing I would think it to be a waste of money for someone who is just a casual racer and only gets online every now and then.
I don’t know if I have helped any but if you have any more questions I can try and answer them. I’m sure one of the other guys will answer much better than I, anyways hope I helped at least some.

IRacing is one of a few subscriptions I’d openly welcome. However, I am a casual racer at best. I haven’t even gone online yet with F12020 ...or 2018, or even 2016.
After this thread started, I began looking at my PC wondering how I’d move the wheel over to the desk without totally overwhelming my workstation.
Now I’m contemplating what 3 monitors would looks like, and trying to justify transitioning to Fanatec despite the fact the wheel and motor is almost as much as a new computer. Now. I’m getting ads for a motion system...looks like that would tack another $2,500 to the system.
Kind of crazy a mid level racing sim system costs as much as a used BMW 3 series....

The nice systems are awesome but not needed to enjoy Iracing. What you have now is perfect to start with Iracing, One of the Pro season champions drives with a G29 wheel set mounted on his desk.
You can always try Iracing for a month or two and see if it’s something that you would like to continue or not, the download is free you just pay the monthly membership.
In my other post I didn’t mention that Iracing does have the option to race against the AI on some tracks and vehicles. I do believe they intend to have all tracks and vehicles available to race in the near future. I like this option so instead of testing or practice you can race a track and learn it.
Anyways just wanted to get a little more information to you, hope it helps out some.

Little update on the Iracing scene, I got my first win in B class Xfinity North Wilkesboro yesterday. It did come with a little controversy as at the end we had a GWC restart and I was in P2. I got a great restart and went in turn one with the leader basically side by side, there was a little contact door to door that at the time I didn’t even feel and as we exited the turn I took the lead down the backstretch. I held on to win under green and then congratulated the guys for a great race to only have the guy say if you can’t beat them wreck them crap. I was pretty confused when the guy said I almost wrecked him for the win so I looked at the replay and there was minor contact but it did upset his car. I told him I was sorry about the contact and that I didn’t even realize we had touched but he kept up with calling it dirty.
I race as clean as I possibly can, I won’t move or wreck someone for a position or win I’m just not that type of driver. I try to not be over aggressive in any situation because it usually doesn’t pay off and I really don’t want to be known as that type of driver. As you can tell it bothers me for someone to say that about my driving. Have you guys had similar situations?

Has anyone played F1 2020? If so, is it really worth the upgrade over 2019?

just downloaded 2019 on the ps4 and played for the first time since I played Formula 1 on the Sega Genesis. I'm having a hard enough time with it lol
My God this game is hard. It doesn't help that I've also been playing Gran Turismo Sport which has a completely different feel. At least the controls are similar.

This just in: I suck at eldora.
Got hot at Phoenix though. Won a couple and plenty of top 5's.

Branching out this week and trying different things since I don't like eldora yet. Holy shite the Indy cars are fun. Going to do them this week too I think. And the legends at Concord are awesome.

I upgraded from 2018, and there’s a lot more behind the scenes adjustments and garage management in career mode. Supposedly there’s significant improvements in the frame rates for PS4 (Seems the same to me).

I'm on PC so I'm already pumping out max frames.
I was hoping there would be some upgrades to the league mode since it's a hot pile of shite

I need to race other things like you do, might give it a shot next week. Also congrats on your wins and top 5's.

Do you play online? Do you have the PC version or PS4? I think I still have a coupon from Fanatec to purchase this game for $1 or something like that, I meant to check it out and forgot until I read your post.
Does the game support VR?

I tried the modified car last night. That thing is great. Need to add that to my schedule as well when I can. I have destroyed my SR this week as I've been doing the legend cars. Got demoted from B to C even. Shameful.

Late to the party, but I'm an avid PC sim racer. I race in a couple of Formula Hybrid leagues in Assetto Corsa, but looking at jumping back into iRacing this fall.
I'm running a VR rig setup with G920 Wheel and Fanatec V3 pedals. Going to be upgrading to a direct drive wheel in a couple of weeks. I'd love to race with more Americans as most of my leagues are filled with people from everywhere but.

Already posted one win at Michigan and would have had 2 if the caution hadn't come out. Was 3 wide for the lead on the last lap and I had the outside line.
