Any gains in the last few days? I'm clawing my way back to 2k iR. I've hit it four times in the past week only to get into some shite and drop back down. ? I'm holding steady at A4.09 thankfully.

I clawed back to 3.5 and change. Won several of them. I'm better in front ahead of the idiots usually. But then I had yet another 8 point race due to an idiot wrecking me when I was running 3rd.

Been a while since I checked back on this thread but I just got back to racing even though my hand has not completely healed.
First I did get my Oculus Quest to work with my computer via the link cable and the new updates they have made. I am still tweaking stuff but driving the truck at Milwaukee I was actually a little faster and more consistent. It is pretty awesome to be sitting in your vehicle and have the ability to look around like you would in real life. The graphics are ok and I have not noticed any lag. One thing is the frame rates will only go to max 80, but I really couldn’t tell. Like I said I need to learn what this can and cannot do, settings and anything to improve gameplay but at this point I’m a fan
As far as driving and points I ran a C race at Milwaukee started 14 finished 3rd was not involved in any wrecks and I didn’t hit anyone. Yet I finished the race with 16 incident points, that’s how many times I was hit. I hadn’t noticed till the end of the race, I understand the point system but that sucks when you get penalized for other people running into you. Oh well. So yeah points go up so they must come down that’s my iracing world.

Glad to see you are getting back on. I'll be all over C class at Kansas this week. I hope to be back over 2K irating at the end. Going to see how these races go.

was watching a race this weekend, here is a clip, start at 4:45:00 mark.

Unbelievable racing. And dude who ended up losing, came from 34th. I think he's pretty good, he won a big race days before.

Derek is one of the best racers on the site. I watch his streams when I can. I almost did a 600 but I didn't really want to sit there for 5 hours.

Well ran my first race at Kansas and my first ever VR race,
not really knowing what to expect i just skipped qualifying and started the race in the back. We had a few early wrecks but they only involved one or two cars and were easy to slow and dodge, and it seems at this track unless you are right in the wreck you have a good chance to avoid the mess. Once you get a good green run going the trucks spread out some making it much safer to pass.
In practice I had been running pretty strong with a very stable truck able to run pretty much any line I needed to pass another person, racing in VR just gives me better views and I can hit my marks easier. So started 23RD got a feel for track started moving up with help from a few cautions also mixed in there and at the end some hard runs I was able to finish 3rd without any incident points. So yes today I like this track.

What do some of you guys setup contain?

What model wheels/sticks/pedals?

right now I have a GT Omega ART Sim cockpit that is a tubed frame with racing seat, it has the monitor stand with the base for the wheel base and the pedal set.
The racing wheel I'm using now is the Thrustmaster T150 gear driven base with the matching pedal set. I have on order the Fanatec CSL Elite with the elite pedals and brake mod. This is a belt driven base.
I have also just started using my Oculus Quest to run iracing in VR, this is brand new to me but it's awesome.

I loved using VR for the immersion but I just didn’t like being cut off from everything else while in it. 3 minute pacing laps at talladega are painful when you are stuck in a headset.

Nowhere is safe for me. I started strong yesterday but I keep running into people who can’t hold their lines. I qualify up front every race only to have someone try to make the bottom stick and then dump me. They race on and I’m stuck in the back trying to salvage what I can. Passing is almost impossible here so it’s all about track position.

The way I have my setup I don’t have easy access to my keyboard so I mapped what I could of importance to my wheel. If using the keyboard a lot yeah that wouldn’t work well.
My race went about as perfect as you could ask, I’m sure my opinion will change some when I jump back on today and race.

4 races - 7, 7, 3, and a 1. 1 pole. Might take the rest of the night off. Lol. Finally back to almost 2k irating.

Welp I was running 5th at the Mile we were at lap 15 I think coming across the start finish and the car behind me had dove the apron in an attempt to pass. I moved up high to give plenty of room and 7th place was behind me, lower guy just comes up the track and hits me in left rear qtr panel and around I go.
Would have been fine if the guy running seconds behind would have slowed down at the caution but for some reason he comes plowing in and hits me it the rear sending me sliding all the way to the pits. This is where it gets funny though. I get penalized for entering the pits unsafe? I was wrecked in. So I drive around and enter pits I get another penalty for speeding and I wasn’t, then I get a black flag for passing under the yellow? Finished 18.

Damn that Derek guy is pretty good.

If he's in back, he catches them and clears. He gets pole he goes wire to wire.

I had a 5k irating In oval about 10 years ago. I might get back into it this summer if I can find some time.

You ought to, I’m having lots of fun. I’m just hoping to get in some races were the silly crap keeps happening. Funny thing is the lower the I rating the higher the chance of the silly crap.
Well season 2 is over and I’m not sure what I will be racing for season 3. I am good for promotion but not sure if promotions already happened and I will start in C or if we get promoted next week and I will be in B? Anyone know that answer?
Also what do you guys think about the tire rules, one set in a race will be tricky especially in the longer races. Maybe I misunderstood and the longer ones have more sets.

It looks like only C class trucks will have tire limits. 2 sets a race. Ought to make strategy fun!

I am going to run C class trucks and then sprinkle other stuff in there if I want. I find that the trucks have some of the best racing for ovals but I do enjoy running the others at tracks I like.

I'm pretty disappointed in the throwbacks. I'm sure that they'll get an update this week but it's not very fun for me to get caught up in these wreck fests with it. The set up made it so tough to drive. Don't get me wrong, having to actually drive the car is fun but I'm supposed to be in a league with these things and I'm not sure I want to do 12 races like that. Haha

If you were over 3.0 SR and met the requirements you should be bumped up. If you aren't and you still want to level up, just farm some sr to get the promotion for a few races and take a little hit on iRating.

Wouldn't you know it, I had taken such a hit in SR I didn't get promoted. No worries though. The legends and late models are both fun this week. Late models at south Boston was interesting.

Yep was at 3.5 so I got promoted to B. Xfinity is what I was wanting to run so I’m happy to be in the position I’m in. Looks like most practices and races are a good mix of A and B licensed drivers, with a lean to the A guys. That should make for some decent field strength during races, so now hopefully it’s time to race.
I do plan on running trucks still, we will see how that goes.

Oh forgot to add I got invited to a league last week that was running the Gander Outdoor Trucks with a 10 race schedule. I joined and was excited about the first race being at Daytona, then forgot what day race was on and missed the stupid race. I’m sure that is the way to impress everyone by missing your first race when we need everyone to run for numbers. The league is new and we don’t have many members yet, so not like you can just blend in and not get noticed. Oh boy.
