News report on shooting
Reddit link
Ok so I saw this on reddit and its a very bizarre story that is hard to follow along with but I'll try my best to explain.
To kids are playing WW2 together and playing a UMG wager for $2 on the same team. They lose and get into an argument. Well there is this guy on twitter named "Swautistic" who calls in fake terrorist/hostage situations if you ask him to because he's a loser.
Anyways one of the kids in the wager messages him on twitter to "swat" his teammate. Well the Swat kid reaches out to the other teammate and trying to seem hard the kids gives him his address... only it wasn't his address just an address nearby his house.
The Swat kids then calls the police and says that a man is holding a family hostage at this house and has already shot the father... So the police show up to this random house and a guy answers the door. The cop thinking he was the man holding them hostage inadvertently shoots the guy who answers... How insane is that. There are texts and messages saved between the two which I can try and link.
TLDR: Kids argue after losing $2. One gets a loser on twitter to call in a fake hostage situation on the other guys house.. guy gives fake address. innocent man killed by cop who I guess was scared and trigger happy.

supposedly this is not a random occurrence in the gaming community. this so called "swatting". a Call of duty tournament a few weeks ago in dallas had multiple bomb threats called in by low lifes on twitter. many believe the same guy who got this guy killed did those as well. He deleted his twitter already. Hopefully they catch him

The kid that called the swat team should be killed. Piece of shite.

Well that's enough internet for me today.

That kid's about to get a sneak peak at "A Way Out" in some serious hi-def.

I thought my mom having slept with all of the CoD commmunity was the worst that could happen.
So senseless.

The swatter was caught. 25 year old guy who had previously been investigated for bomb scares. He actually did an interview over the phone with keemstar where he said he should go to jail, but not for murder because he didn’t pull the trigger.

I was just reading about this. This swatting prank is extremely ridiculous. No respect whatsoever to do something so serious. I hope they make an example out of whoever did this.
Surprised this wasn’t on the OT.

Good. He’s a sick freak to continue calling in fake dangerous scenarios and risking high stakes drama. Screw this guy. Regardless if he didn’t pull the trigger he’s every bit as much of a POS.

Is the 25 year old starters name released?
Here’s another swatting incident this year that left an innocent guy with a broken face I think LINK

That reddit says he planned to swat Nola as well.
Here’s a link to the calls and some footage of the incident https://comicbook.com/gaming/2017/12/29/call-of-duty-swatting-incident-911-call/
And here is a link to the 25 year old arrested https://abc7.com/amp/la-man-arrested-in-connection-to-fatal-kansas-swatting-incident/2840369/
And an old story about his precious bomb call LINK
And something I saw on Twitter. Not sure if this is legit
The cache to the origin of that LINK

Tyler Barriss is his name.
Absolutely should be charged with murder. Here's hoping it's life in prison.

quote:Surprised it seems like this is the first most of this board has heard of it. This was a major issue alongside DDOSing a few years ago. They slapped a felony charge on DDOSing and started throwing the stupid swatters in jail and it calmed down for a bit. Looks like this idiot thought he was better than that, though.
This swatting prank is extremely ridiculous.

I remember WoodysGamertag talking about this ages ago. He said it happened to him, which I doubt, but it’s at least been talked about for years

I sat and watched PhantomL0rd have the police called on him live in the middle of a stream. It used to be out of control.

swatting is so 2010
go to youtube, plenty of live video of people being swatted, and cops in riot gear entering the house.
Only a Millennial could think this was ever funny or fun.
