quote:No. It felt fine in the hand but a lack of shoulder (bumper) buttons, a lack of a much needed right analog stick, and a lack of adequate "option" buttons made it inherently problematic from the get-go. Also, the controller cable came out of the bottom (to make room for the VMU slot), automatically shortening the cable length by about 3 inches, and the analog stick would rotate slightly counter and clockwise, reducing precision.
but it was better than the GameCube and PS2 controllers at the time.
I love my Dreamcast but its stock controllers were a problem. It did, however, have the best arcade stick released for it's time, which was essential for its many fighting games, and the VMU was a pretty brilliant idea, particularly for football games.

Crazy Taxi was about the only game I ever played with that...
Maybe add Virtua Fighter?

The Virtua Fighter that released on the Dreamcast is the worst one in the franchise. I do not believe though that it was ever re-released anywhere else.

I spent more time playing (and losing) Virtua Fighter at the arcade than I ever spent playing it on Dreamcast. I'll definitely take your word for it on that one
I just remember it being available and getting it because it was the game I played in the Arcade.

It's not a bad game per say, but you can appreciate the historical significance of 1 and 2. 4 and 5 are still extremely solid fighting games.
3 introduces fully 3D arenas with changes in elevation, but that's about it. 3 also came out in the arcades in 1996 and wasn't released to home console until 1999 in America. By that time just look at Soul Calibur compared to a slightly enhanced port of a 3 year old game.

The Dreamcast was underrated.
I remember getting one and playing NFL 2K for the first time, that was a game changer. Looked way better than anything madden had out at that time. Eddie George stiff arm was unstoppable

I still have a Dreamcast. Only because I have two Discs with every Sega Genesis game made on them. Guy at work let me borrow them like 10 years ago then got fired shortly after.
