I have officially finished all the borderlands games

Finished the original with my brother like 10 or so years ago co-op.
But the new games give so much more life to what was a somewhat bland universe at the time of creation. But frick 3. frick everything about that game. Can’t wait for Wonderlands.
And if Handsome Jack isn’t the personification of the dickbag rantard I don’t know what is.

1 and 2 were great. Pre was okay. 3 was frickin rubbish
Sad that Tales From The Borderlands is the best Borderlands game and it's a Telltale game, not Gearbox LMAO

I absolutely loved 1 and 2, but never ended up finishing 3. I’d put 2 in my top 10 of all time I enjoyed it so much. Played every DLC and think I 100%’d the game if I remember right. I was at least close.
I can’t put my finger on it, but I just didn’t have as much fun with 3. Maybe I should give it another try with a new class or something.

The story is terrible, the villain's are worse, and gearbox's true talent, annoying and game breaking bugs, were on full display.

Broken record: 3 is the best playing game out of the series, movement wise and gun action. But the writing is straight up dog shite.
ETA I played 3 a little bit and then fired up 2 to get a better picture of what made them different, and the immediate thing I noticed is that with 2 they weren't peppering you with someone yelling over the comms every 15 seconds. There were actually moments of "calm". With 3 it's non stop jabbering, and all of it is awful.

It felt like a parody of earlier Borderlands games.

I mean, Borderlands is essentially a parody in and of itself. This is the same company responsible for Duke Nukem before a whole generation of kids only knew them FOR borderlands. But the difference is with characters like Jack. 3 was REALLLLLLLLLY missing a Jack. Even though borderlands is somewhat of a parody, certain characters like Jack portray the more cynical side of the people that experience the game. And that’s what makes 2 so enjoyable. Is that you have characters like that in game amongst all the satire and humor that display that personality and shine through the duller parts of the game. Like the fact that Marcus has his competitors assassinated or that half the cast either knocked up Moxxi or is one of her kids.
The devs really have no excuse to make anything similar to (in the mainline series not spin-offs) Borderlands 3 from a writing standpoint again because they have an official discord with 100,000 people and have a role system. The role system allows you to stamp your profile with what your favorite game is and the OVERWHELMING favorite is BL2.
So the devs know what the people want. And so does 2K. Because 2K reps are the people that moderate it.

I'm playing 3 now and I'm level 42 so I'm pretty invested and having a good time

Tales from the Borderlands is the only Borderlands game I've ever enjoyed playing. I really don't like playing the other games, which is sad because it seems like an intriguing world to me.
