I was not calling it dead. Now is just not a great time to jump in with no new content and less people playing. I had a lot of trouble getting an LFG group together on Friday. I never used to have that problem.

I haven't used the lfg sites for weeks.
been using that 100 site without any issues finding good groups for a wide range of activity's

Always heard good things about that site, but everytime I've gone there I can't find an active group.
I've very rarely had a bad experience or not been able to form a group on /r/fireteams

There is your problem.
Most of the good players knock out Challenge mode 3x and a solid HM run on Tuesday nights.
My 100 group normally goes like this
Tuesday- 3x CM run
Wed - 3x NF runs
Thursday - PVP Bounties, full HM run, or full VOG/CE run
Friday, Sat, Sun - 5/7 win runs in Trials if possible and bounties.
Iron Banner week usually throws a wrench in those plans, though.
The OP complaining about cost, Destiny has only costed me $120 for over a years worth of entertainment. It's on par with Netflix and Hulu...
The division comes out on 3/8 and I really enjoyed the beta so I think I will pick that game up. Been awhile since I bought a game on release.

Ive joined 3 groups, but don't use them. I just browse all games for a match that works with my schedule.
If I can't find a match that works with my schedule, I create one and most of the people that join are randoms not not in my groups.

I don't know what console you play on, but I just bought The Taken King Legendary edition with all that DLC for a grand total of $22 on Amazon.
If you aren't a total idiot you don't have to spend that much money to catch up on all that content. It might have cost that much new, but you said that you haven't gotten it yet.

Pretty lame that you have 1 day to raid or else everyone else drops off. That's the problem with the player base right now, just not as many people raiding or playing in general. I'm not a crucible guy, so there isn't much to do.

I don't think I've raided for like three or four weeks now lol.
I've only been taking part in trials and I will once again take part in IB.

It has been like this for 4-5 weeks now. My dedicated HM run group split up in early January and I have just been using my 100 group. We have like 30 active members or so and are usually able to fill spots without opening it to the public. I have had a lot of bad experiences with public groups off 100, fireteams and DLFG.
Only time I use LFG now is for casual trials cards where I can get some practice in and maybe help some guys to 5 wins who might not have been able to do it otherwise. However, I have ran into some real shitbags there as well that bitch and complain so much I end up telling them that if they aren't having fun playing this mode they should stop playing. I can't help it if you go for a 0.25 KD in a trials match. If you don't understand that your little silly Patch-A/Subpar auto rifle combo gets gunned down by a Mida and I end up in 1v2 or 1v3 situations and I am unable to either gun them down or get revives. Sometimes people don't understand that you can't help them if they don't help you.

I'm pretty serious when it comes to Trials, but it's hilarious when I get with a group off of r/fireteams and you get someone who gets so frustrated with it.
I purposely title my posts as 'competitive' and not 'flawless run', because if we lose I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I'm there to play more than anything. I'm an average, above average player who can get lucky every once in awhile and go flawless.
I never understand when I'm playing on like a 6-0, 7-0 card and we get pitted against a team of diamond or platinum level ELO players and someone rages. Like bro, you have an 1100-1300 ELO. This is supposed to happen.

This weekends trials was really crazy too. I ended up helping 4 guys off DLFG and two guys from my 100 group get 7 wins Friday night. They were all like 7-3 cards but still, there was a lot of soft teams in the 5 to 7 win range.
I also got the god roll Doctrine with counter balance.
Saturday I woke up with a bad cold but still tried to help some more 100 group members but I just was playing very poorly and one guy just was not that helpful. I would say give Guild Wars 2 a shot. It's currently free to play without the expansion, and if you don't like it you've essentially paid nothing. It's a great game. It's an MMORPG, but there's a shite ton of stuff to do.

I've liked this generation better than the last. GC/PS2/Xbox was the golden generation for me.
RPG's have been lacking but that looks to change soon, at least on PS4.

I would put myself at the above average skill level, however I have had a lot of help since the beginning of the year. I reached out to some people that do "sweats" regularly. I asked if they could help me improve because what's going on for me right now isn't working. I have learned a good bit about baiting opponents into losing battles but it isn't like I have turned into some pvp God. They regularly kick my arse in 3v3 pickup games until I get a map I have put serious work into. I try to run 100 games minimum for trials every weekend and if I can't find anyone from my 100 group I'll just play with randoms off DLFG.
I always make my posts about "must have 2 goats and booty picks for chance at light shack"
Usually get some good responses and played with a few female guardians who enjoyed my humor.
Because I do this I only have like a 45% win rate and last time I checked my elo was 1260. I regularly run into 1600+ elo teams on the 5th, 6th and 7th win games and those can be challenging when you have teammates that aren't supportive.
On Mondays my friend will help run me to the lighthouse, usually pretty quick 7-0 card. Then I usually just dick around with NLB or Fusion rifles.

I've been more just looking for solid teams to farm wins on. I never played trials in year one so when year two rolled around I didn't know what the frick ELO was or anything like that. So I played with several of my friends who are just terrible at pvp. LIke we just did it solely for the bounties. So when I saw that people were asking for ELO requirements I was like, "whats that?"
