It's not overly expensive and can be sold as a "healthy alternative" to 360/PS3. You know, you're actually moving and whatnot.

Now, if Xbox comes out with something that had great graphics and the gameplay of the Wii....
it might be hard to get one for a while as well.

Sony outpriced themselves from the start. Only a small percentage of the population cared about blu ray and HUGE hard drives.

I would have probably gotten a PS3 had I not already had the 360.

... not nearly enough difference(IMO) to go out and spend another 400 dollars when I've already got the 360(which has tons more games, including Halo )

It may "suck" as a serious gaming platform, but for parties and family get togethers nothing else can compare simply because everyone can play. This past Christmas my nephew played my grand mother in golf, and we had basically a huge tournament in Mario Kart.

Nothing is better for family gathering. My Wife, Mom, Dad, or Sister didn't think twice about playing. If they were asked to play 360 or PS3, they wouldn't have even contemplated it. Another good thing is that my 3 1/2 year son can play it and is actually good at bowling and golf. See what happens if you give a 3 1/2 year old a 360 or PS3 controller....

My problem with the Wii is that you almost have to have people over in order to enjoy it. So we really are spending more per use than I did for the $400 PS3 that is used 5 times per week.

what is nice about the Wii is you can pick it up for the first time and be good at any game. I go over to a friends house and beat him at his own games. He swears I have a Wii and I practice but I am sure I don't.

The Wii is succeeding because it ISN'T what every other console in the past has been. Look at the commercials, 2 women talking on the phone and "playing" going to the store. It doesn't get much more bizzare than that IMO but as incomprehensible as it seems, some people obviously like it.

They took the GCN hardware, overclocked it, added some motion sensing peripherals to it and
repackaged it for $249. Nearly 100$ profit there on hardware alone.

Too bad their software sucks donkey balls.

Because sony screwed up by forcing blu ray into their consoles and taking away backward compatibility. Blu ray just made the console too expensive and without the ability to play PS2 games, many PS2 owners such as myself went with a 360. I mean if I have to keep my ps2 hooked up still, I might as well just get a 360.
