I'm checking the game out during its free trial week. I ran out of ammo a handful of missions in. My melee weapons do no damage. I'm hungry and thirsty

If you've played Fallout before, get that out of your head. It's a survival game, so resources are intentionally scarce. When I tried it the game was hopelessly broken so I bounced pretty quickly. I like what I've seen lately and I'll eventually jump back in, but too much else to play right now.

Melee used to do the most damage when I played.

If they still have the ridiculously small inventory limit, I will never play this.

They really make you scavenge but it's pretty fun because you have to find plans to build your camp.

I just jumped back in after a long time away and they really turned this game around.

It's going to really feel like a Fallout game when they add in NPCs.

When you’re out there scavenging, always look for fertilizer or anything that contains acid. When you break down fertilizer, it’ll give you acid... acid + cloth= gunpowder (chem bench). Also pickup batteries and paint cans, that’ll give you lead. I keep a good supply of both. You can also loot gunpowder from supermutants and other enemies. Use any Tinker’s workbench to craft ammo.

I played for 5 hours and couldn’t move because I was overweight with nowhere to put the stuff. Game seemed like it was made by someone who never played fallout. Quit soon after.

So I figured out how to scrap items. I am in business now. Does loot from boxes and stuff respawn over time? I could see resources getting really scarce after playing a long time if it doesn't.

It's like other Bethesda rpg's if you've played them.

Loot is mostly randomized depending on the location in the game and respawns after a few in-game days.

Make sure you pick one weapon type and specialize in it - if you try a lot you'll just end up spreading yourself thin and do no real damage.

Early on you can equip some perk cards that help with water/food management that you get for free in the perk packs. Most of them suck but in early game it doesn't matter anyway.

it's a crappy game, but i gave it another try

first creature i come up on, and it's going 200mph around my screen, and torn. I literally had to restart, because it kept killing me, and i could not do a thing to it.

They are going all in for their battle royal, people will play it for this week and quit. It has nothing to keep them

You gotta scrap it. All. Every. Single. Thing. If you aren’t equipping it, it gets scrapped. Then, use one of the workbenches to bulk your loose scrap. There’s really no reason your stash should be full. Get rid of all rockets and mini nukes as well. Complete waste of space. As is any ammo type that you don’t use regularly.

For instance I had a suit of armor I couldn’t even use yet I wanted to keep it so I had it when I could. I did scrap everything I could as well and even made bulk scrapping as well. Legendary guns that were sweet I wanted to keep to use later were more burdensome and it was depressing. The energy cores took up a lot of weight as well. I spent more time trying to figure out how to make my weight situation work than I did playing the game

I’m used to putting stuff in my stash and not having to worry about a 300 lb limit.
