It’s not that bad, I’m about 1/3 through just going off quantity of map areas

It seems to be about twice the size as the original. I think I counted 30 areas while the original has 15, so pretty much on point.

Some of the areas are extremely small though. It's definitely not twice the game. Rooms in the areas are much bigger and more open which makes the map seem massive.
The first game had an achievement for 100%ing it in 20 hours. The equivalent achievement for Silksong is 30 hours. I'm going to try and get it in one run

Widow was the hardest and best boss thus far. Really good challenge

Dirtmouth, the Resting Grounds, and the Jellyfish place were in the original Hollow Knight as well.

But with everything this game brings, absolute kudos to the game creators. They could have easily charged $30 or $40 and people would have paid for it. It’s insane this game was only an Andrew Jackson. Nintendo and Microsoft would have sold it for $60.

Sinners Road and Bilewater are 2 of the worst areas I've ever played in any video game
It's pretty clear at this point that the devs hate the fans. So egregiously and obnoxiously designed

Seen the video of the actual final boss… there’s no way in hell I’m going to be beating it. Makes the Radiance look like an absolute cakewalk. If you’re able to beat it, the achievement unlocked should be “Eternal Virgin.”

I haven't because I'm avoiding spoilers but I think I would feel that about every dark souls/elden ring/etc boss if I watched videos online ha
Just got to Widow! Sister Splinter gave me some issues before I called it a night and came back this morning.
I think I may have skipped some areas because I feel like I am barely getting by because I'm going backwards? I went with a caravan and I think that made me skip some areas but could be wrong though.

I’m getting close to endgame and I can say with 100% certainty that a sizable portion of the player base will not be capable of completing the game in its current state
I never thought I would play a metroidvania harder than Aeterna Noctis, but this takes the cake
There are some absolutely brutal bosses with some of the worst runbacks imaginable. The Bilewater boss + its associated runback is one of the most egregious, mean-spirited game dev choices I’ve ever seen. There are some absolutely vicious precision platforming segments as well that top Path of Pain…but they aren’t optional like PoP was lol

I’m just saying it looks like the single most difficult boss fight I’ve ever seen. They really need to release an easy mode and put almost all the enemies to a one mask damage rather than two, with some exceptions of course.
And the only reason I could beat that was the Hiveblood and Grubworm charms. Took me forever, but could only manage it with those two.

Did you find the hidden bench that makes the runback a little less awful?

It's always awesome that these types of games show how people react differently to certain bosses. I struggled so much with the sister boss but then blew past the widow boss after a few deaths. Game has been very good and I haven't hit any "unfair" parts but I know I'm still early!

I think I’ve figured out the pattern to the sister boss and if weren’t for those flying things she summons I would have definitely beaten her by now. Died maybe six times to her but will start back up soon.

I started to focus immediately on one of the flying enemies and then I just tried to avoid the 2nd one while she killed it. If I felt comfortable in my position then I would throw a needle at the flying enemies.

Got Sister on first try, Widow was the first that took me multiple attempts
Just wait till you reach the citadel lol

I think the 2 extra enemies kept throwing me off. Fun battle though and a fantastic "YA DONE!" when the sister fell!

I'm trying to explore the areas I've gone through already to keep building up my character before I move on. It's weird but it freaks me out when I don't have a map for an area. It is such a relief to hear that lady's voice singing!

I haven’t played it today, but I wonder if there’s anyone who can play Steel Soul Mode in this game and complete it and manage to keep a job or losing their virginity.
And again: they better release an Easy Mode. Most of the two hit enemies and bosses reduced to one, several reduced from the number of hits you need to kill them, and maybe a temporary platform or two on the extremely hard platforming challenges that aren’t available on Normal or Steel Soul Modes.
