I just got the Guard Dog with the laser. Is that thing still feasible at higher difficulty? On medium/challenging it's a godsend.
I'm also curious at what point people switch from Guard Dog Rover to backpack shield.
I imagine the backpack shield is always good for robot missions, but not sure when you need it for bug missions (aside from not getting one-shotted by the spitting bugs

Curious if people have thoughts on sample farming. would love a kitted out ship.

How does that work? You only get samples on extraction, so do you just run around the map looking for samples, then do the main objective, and then extract?

I don't even know. I just feel like I'm accruing them super slowly. Maybe that's the point.

Indeed, the orbital laser proves to be an effective option as well. Personally, I opt for both the 500kg and Orbital rail strikes because on helldiver difficulties, the sheer number of bile titans that spawn can quickly become overwhelming if not promptly addressed swiftly.
It ultimately comes down to personal preference. The weapon can excel at eliminating smaller foes, particularly hunters. However, if you're equipped with a breaker shotgun, it handles this task exceptionally well, and the redeemer on your weapon swap can also effectively clear enemies. I'd suggest experimenting and playing in a way that brings you enjoyment!
Yes. There is a ship module upgrade you can get by trading in samples that gives you extra ammo, shorter launch time, etc. You can get up to 2 and there is a re-arm feature so you can use it multiple times a game.

Can you rearm the Eagle to get additional 500kg bomb uses or is it a one-time use for the entire mission?

On Helldiver difficulty, [9], you can collect approximately 40 samples for each regular sample and 6 for super samples (Purple).
Basically, you aim to equip yourself as comprehensively as possible and every man for themselves on Helldiver (9) difficulty, spreading out to clear the entire map. Engage in all side missions, explore numerous small points of interest, and gather samples wherever possible. Although it may require some time, clearing the entire map can be immensely satisfying. Be cautious not to encounter patrols that spawn endless bugs or bots. Should you encounter one, separate from the group and relocate to a different area.

Make sure to hug your fellow Helldiver before departure.

I feel like if I start a mission solo I'm just fricked unless someone else shows up. I'm only rank 10. Does the game dial down # of enemies based on # of players?
I can't say for sure but it seems like more patrols are spawned with each player on the map, but that frequency doesn't seem to drop when players leave.
I stick mainly to the robots, the Protect Liberty missions where you raise the flag seems to be the easiest. Also, be on the lookout for robots who look like they are about to shoot up flares, those flares call in their drop ships.
My method on this has been to just run Trivial maps solo until I get a good grip on things. I'm now pretty much raping those levels for samples, super credits, etc with only the rare deaths being due to my inattention. I'll likely move up to Easy soon, but I would really like to have my most commonly used Stratagems memorized before moving beyond that.

I did the same thing. I like to go back and help new, lower levels learn the ropes every now and then

So I'm starting to run more Challenging bug missions (and want to start Hard missions) and I'm trying to figure out the best loadout. Right now I'm thinking:
-Light Armor
-Breaker
-Redeemer
-Shield Backpack
-Railgun
-[TBD]
-[TBD]
-Impact grenades
My main issue is that with only 4 grenades, I can't always help in closing bug holes. The grenade launcher is great for that, but I feel like I need the Railgun to take down Chargers.
Any suggestions for the remaining two stratagem slots? I imagine the 500kg bomb is good at closing a bunch of holes at the bigger nests, but it's a rather long rearm process, right?

Is the Airstrike better than the Cluster Bomb?

Eagle Airstrike has been more effective for me. For bug holes I pretty much throw an airstrike then beeline for the holes. If it's a larger one I'll throw a sentry as well just after the airstrike to cover me while I close holes.

Played a bunch last night and it was brutal, just wanted to farm but kept getting in the most moronic noob groups. It was to the point I had to start shooting teammates mortars every time they slapped one down. After 2 hours of awful, just quick matched on Impossible and got in a group of all 40+. Cleared the entire map, 0 deaths, great fun.
Seems like there's some awful players on 5/6 right now.

Thank you, going to give Airstrike a shot instead of the Cluster Bombs

Then I'll put one of the sentries in my last stratagem slot.

I like that but I have become addicted to my "guard dog".

Who's a good boy!
If I could have the jetpack and the guard dog at the same time, I would be a DPS machine.

You running solo? I don't ever carry sentries anymore.

for closing nest mission i run airstrike, 3 charges per resupply if your ship is upgraded and i find it does better job than the 500 ton
for egg destructions i run the 500 ton. i can clear out a nest easy with that, just juke and jive your way in, drop the strike and frick off.
everything else kinda depends on my team. lasers sometimes. i really like running the 110 rockets airstrike. get 3 per ammo supply, fast, and heavy enough to soften up bile titans that a rail gun shot or maybe 2 to the head ends the fight.
Posted on 2/28/24 at 11:50 am to caro81
also, for you guys who are getting to that level.....do NOT forget to turn your rail gun to "unsafe" mode.
also dont blow yourself up, but thats hard. i saw it happen to someone for first time last night. i laughed.

Very rarely run solo. Almost always doing Quickplay with randos.
