May be more trouble than you wanna go to, but coulnd't you just run a VM with whatever OS was the preferred OS for that game at the time? Could run Win 98 or XP in a VM an just install and run the game on that vM?

It's very, very heavily dependent on the particular game. What are you trying to play?

Easiest way is to get the game from gog.com ( LINK ) if it's one they have. They have tons of old games packaged to work on modern systems.
If you don't like the idea of paying again for a game you bought in the distant past, they have big discounts all the time and the older games often go for next to nothing.

I thought I had help for you but it was for the inverse. There is a guy on IG that puts modern games on retro computers

Couple of different ways. I had a dos emulator I used to use, and for still popular games like Red Alert and Red Alert II there are usually established workarounds. I think the only way I could make a certain Commander Keen game work was playing like 5 YouTube videos in the background ha.
