I've played about 8-10 hours. I really like it.
IMO it kind of is a blend of: Valheim, Zelda BOTW/TOTK, and Elden Ring.
Strengths
- Varied gameplay with lots of fun elements (glide suits, grappling hooks, puzzle dungeons, etc)
- Survival Elements are relatively minimal, allowing for a lot of exploration or whatever thing you want to focus on
- Simple combat but lots of options, especially for bigger teams (there's a light class system)
- Really solid Building/Construction system that's easy to get used to and allows for really varied builds
- Runs really well for EA, does have some areas where I've had frame drops but overall very solid
- Up to 16 players ... but there's a drawback (more below)
- A lot of content for where the game is in development. I'd guess this could be a 200+ hour experience once it's out of EA.
- Map is handcrafted, not procedurally generated, and it shows.
Weaknesses
- The first few hours have some challenges but overall it's a pretty easy game. Could use difficulty sliders IMO.
- Quest progression is server-wide and not person-specific so if you do MP you need everyone there to progress or they'll miss out. I know people who have groups of 6+ that pretty much can't play because they'll never all be there at the same time.
- For where it is in EA, I heard that the later hours are sort of same-y and the enemy variety dies off
- Story seems really basic. There's a plot to follow but it's really loose. If you want to "know more" there's a ton of lore laying around in the game.
Overall I'd really recommend it if you enjoy big action-adventure exploration type games and can handle a little bit of survival-crafting (more building/construction elements than survival).

Yes you can play totally solo. There's enemy scaling as far as I can tell as well so you won't be overwhelmed or anything.

Has the best building system I've seen in any survival game.

I plan to give it a try after Palworld gets old. Poor Like a Dragon is never going to get finished at this point. Started playing it a few weeks ago and I've completely dropped it for some base building.

looks good, and combat plays more like a skyrim combat type dealio.
