As long as sprint is able to be turned on and off in custom games for competitive play, then I wouldn't care if it was in the game.
That was one of the three big things H4 screwed up.
Toggleable sprint
In game ranks
Descope
Would have made H4 a decent game.

I'm okay with sprint being able to be turned on in customs or for bigger maps in matchmaking but smaller maps need to be designed around no sprint. In Reach and 4 they scaled up maps to fit sprint. That's why all the maps are big and terrible.

I like running in classic Halo speed.

Again, most of this sounds like people want every game to be like 2. I had no issue with the run speed in most of the games (can't remember which one was really slowed down), but once it's put in, I'm glad it's there. I can't speak for what it does to the maps, maybe that's true, but to say it takes out strategy is just reaching. In any fire fight you have, sprint is a non factor anyways. And it's not like it's instant warp speed. Having two speeds isn't a bad thing.
And the controlling the map argument is very reminiscent when they decided to switch sides between rounds for domination in BLOPS2. "We can't own like we used to, it must suck".

Sprint is a factor in every fight. You down one shot. Sprint to cover. Make a dumb push. Sprint to cover. Sprint has an impact over aspect of the game.

Sprint is a part of every shooter now. Halo already distinguishes itself on how long it takes to drop a guy. Now you want to take way the ability to escape a hairy situation (which is probably the most realistic part of any shooter)? No one is going to want to play that game.

Sprint is stupid. If its in just make a playlist without it and ill be happy

Less gaming, more English.
And, I don't know what all the bitching is going on in here, but after a very 'meh' destiny game I'm even more excited/ready for tMCC.

Never thought of it that way.

Actually nobody wants to play a Halo game with sprint. That's why Halo 4's population is the worst of any Halo game and why MLG dropped it from competitive gaming. I've given you several reasons sprint ruins Halo and you haven't named one thing sprint adds to Halo. Why do you think everybody is so excited about Master Chief Collection. It's because they want to play a real Halo game again. Halo 4 will have the lowest population on MCC for a reason. Halo fans want Halo not COD.

I can't say he's wrong, because he likes what he likes. His opinion is that Halo is better suited with sprint, and I'd be willing to bet that he's outnumbered by Halo fans in thinking this way. I agree with pretty much everything you've posted in this thread, Warrior. Having sprint in Halo does not enhance gameplay in the least.

I'm not saying that the older games would have been better suited with sprint in it. But games need to evolve some, and I totally don't agree that it breaks Halo. I'm sure there were some that said the same thing about dual wielding when it was first introduced.
ETA I get people are passionate about this series. I've been with Halo since day one (that will end since I'm not getting the One). I've never been MLG or super competitive with this game, so maybe that's where my opinion comes from. To me, 4 wasn't as horrible as it's made out to be. Because it got pulled from competitive play isn't a factor for me. I had a lot of fun playing it. I couldn't stand the armor abilities, although deflecting nades with a bubble shield and killing who threw them was a great feeling. Change is something that has to happen to a game over the years as tastes and technology change. Hopefully they don't go overboard and kill the heart of what Halo is. I didn't think they did, but obviously there are a bit who disagree.

Scruffy has a 360.
I hated Halo 4. I sold it after I beat the main campaign.
