RDR is not GTA.

The RDR games have always had a much more somber tone.

Video games as a medium take themselves far too seriously these days. Serious games are fine here and there, GTA games have never been and should never been "serious"

Still not sure you played them

Here is a link so you can watch all cut scenes from GTA V.

12 damn hours!!!

If that is too much, the more condensed 4h45m

My goodness, the lengths people will go to in an effort to defend a stupid position. You're pretending young people haven't always been the driving force behind GTA games sales? Just ridiculous.

Your position is that it won’t sell well because ‘they’re delaying themselves into irrelevance’

Do you not think that’s a stupid position? That people won’t buy one of the biggest game titles EVER because Rockstar didn’t release it when imjustafatkid wanted them to?

That seems like more of a stupid position than what the other guy was saying IMO

I think the big question is will Sicboy plays this game if they don't have transgender inclusive game play?

At no point have I stated it won't sell well.

Yes, that would be a stupid position. That's why I have never stated it.

I'm used to this entire board not understanding what I say and then being totally shocked when I'm completely correct, so please understand that doesn't bother me.

How does ‘it’s being delayed into irrelevance’ not imply that it won’t sell well?

If it’s ‘irrelevant’, doesn’t that mean that people aren’t buying it?

You’re not making any sense here

Did I read somewhere correctly the budget for this game is estimated around 1.3-1.4 billion?

GTA V has done $8.5b in total revenue. $1b of that in the first three days on a production and marketing cost of $2.65mm. Absolutely insane numbers.

eta: I can't find numbers for production and marketing of DLC for GTA V or server/infrastructure costs for GTA V online.

Rockstar's game releases since 2010 (no, i dont care about re-releases):

RDR 2
GTA 5
Max Payne 3
LA Noire

Not sure how better to illustrate my point. This company reached near legendary heights by regularly releasing bangers. Now they're releasing bangers...very rarely, and that assumes GTA 6 will be one and their narrative shift left doesn't ruin it.

That timeline is incredibly disingenuous as only 23 of the 41 games listed (even counting DLCs) weren't developed by Rockstar.

Take2 used Rockstar's name in place of their own as publisher on a lot of 2000s titles because of the all the publicity and hype around R*'s own releases.

Well. Can't argue with that, but this would only lend credence to my point. That indicates Take2 feels Rockstar games don't garner as much hype anymore.

Absolutely.

Every now and then you get a perfect storm of amazingly talented people concentrated together at the right place and time and you get consistent gold.

Squaresoft throughout the 90's.

Rare and Blizzard in the mid 90's to early 2000's.

Rockstar in the 2000's.

FromSoftware from about 2010'ish till now.

When those devs put out games during those timespans you were almost guaranteed to be playing a 10/10.
