this is the first GTA i've ever played so i thought maybe the car wash would fix the cars. i had some clean busted up cars in the beginning

Just monitor it over the next 20 or so minutes. Once you notice the slight drop, then sell.

Did you remember to invest with all 3 characters? Also make sure you save theses assassination missions until you have to do them since you can make a ton of money for each character. I believe you have to do the first two at least to progress the story. The remainder can be saved until you finish the game.

Yea, did all three. I was reading the guide and this part confused me.
I need to invest all my money after the first assassination but it won't go up until the last heist?

That's the guide to follow if you want to max your money into the billions. The insurance stock steadily rises as you complete missions. It'll peak towards the end of the game. If you're a perfectionist, invest a lot of the money you're about to make into the red wood cigarettes and AUG. Though you won't see any returns until you're much later in the game.

More than about 2.1 billion on a character and it'll make you have negative money, btw.
