Fans have been waiting for almost eight years for a new Grand Theft Auto game, and according to one leaker with a solid track record, that gap between main entry releases won't be over until 2025. Something which Take-Two's statements during a recent shareholder event backed up recently. Tom Henderson--who previously leaked Call of Duty and Battlefield 2042 details--has released a new video and in it, he claimed that GTA 6 will be set in a modern-day version of Vice City. This runs contrary to previous reports that GTA 6 would be set in the 1980s, with Henderson claiming that developer Rockstar wants to ensure as much freedom as possible for its staff when it comes to creating content for GTA Online.

Henderson also discussed a potential for the GTA 6 map to change over time, similar to how Epic Games regularly overhauls its Fortnite map during end-of-season events. There was also a mention of GTA 6 having multiple playable characters, something which GTA 5 introduced to the series when it first came out. Even if these rumors are true, fans are going to be in for a long wait due to several factors. Henderson said that Rockstar has placed a greater emphasis on employee wellbeing in the wake of several reports detailing the crunch work conditions that were implemented before Red Dead Redemption 2 came out.

I feel like the single player is going to be lackluster because of this with the path GTA5 went

GTA Online is very good. You do not have to pay for things with real money and can grind cash very easy. An ever changing world with seasons and events sounds awesome. Obviously it could suck, but I trust rockstar. They have not done anything for me to not.

I’m sure story will fine and similar to the last one in length and in quality of writing. Red dead’s story and world was vast and incredible. They haven’t show a dip in their single player modes. I know it’s different teams on these games though as well.

After the Take Two E3 crap with corporate responsibility and diversity, equity, and inclusion in the games industry.

Rockstar shutting down servers to honor George Floyd

The massive delay between games

I have no faith it will be good. RDR2 will probably be the last great game from Rockstar.

I enjoyed GTA Online during its first few years. I slowly began to realize that the success of that service has utterly ruined rockstar. Nothing has come along to change my mind.

The run from gta III all the way to gta online was one for the record books. But that company is dead. RIP

Couldn’t agree more. GTA Online just saps the life out of the franchise almost the same way Ultimate Team has for sports games

Bet I won't, I've had enough of their shite.

Gta 3 came out October 2001, gta vice city came out October 2002, San andreas came out October of 2004.

Gta 5 came out September of 2013..6 is supposed to come out in 2025? So they can spend a decade milking 1 game and it ridiculous online experience of shark cards and other horse shite?

Almost 25 years to get from gta 3 to 6? Releasing gta 5 on 3 different generation consoles???

Worker health and crunch time??? They should have already been working on GTA6 for at least 5 years now instead of sitting around with their finger up their online arse.

Yeah they can frick off.

Id rather them go the way of resident evil and re-release vice city as an updated remake than deal with connecting to servers and other people. I play games like that to get away from community.

The online is great, just wish there were better payouts and modded/cheat code servers were separate from the rest.

And I’m glad they aren’t doing a 1980’s game. I don’t mind a couple of flashback missions, but I have no interest in going back in time for the entirety of the game.

They need to make Tim Dillon one of the radio hosts in this game. Maybe as some Alex Jones knockoff. He’d kill it.

Pretty spot on.

The GTA 5 through RDR 2 was a golden time for fans of Rockstar. Those are 2 of the greatest games ever released.

It is safe to say though that greed really took over on the corporate side with Online.

Also like most companies they are dipping their toes in issues that have nothing to do with them. Losing focus on what they need to do.

Yeah comparing GTA Online to crap like Ultimate Team and the Call of Battlefield nonsense is ridiculous. GTA Online has been continuously adding stuff to online since launch, hell 90% of the stuff to do online has been added in the last 5 years or so and it’s all free to do/use unlike UT and Medal of Duty:Warzone 37.

I do agree that we need some news ASAP for the game. Stuff should start to trickle out soon and they should have a Summer 2023 release date on next gen consoles.

I enjoyed doing heists and missions with friends but the free roam aspect never appealed to me.

It also became very apparent that they priced later content drops to incentivize selling shark cards because frick a bunch of grinding.

I just hate how it’s transformed the company. They used to release much more content in the form of actual games instead of another set of lame arse cars or flying motorbikes. No single player dlc for gta v and rdr 2 is fricking criminal.

What exactly needs to be added to the offline single player mode that’s being sorely missed?

Plus they had exactly 69 story missions. Leave well enough alone.
